Biden’s Lax Policies Fueled a Terrorist Attack in Boulder, According To US House Leaders
The recent terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado, where eight people were injured, has reignited fierce criticism of the Biden administration’s immigration policies. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, alongside President Donald Trump, has pointed a d*mning finger at Democrats, accusing them of enabling a porous border that allowed a violent Egyptian national to wreak havoc on American soil. The incident, which targeted a Jewish group, just goes to show the consequences of what critics call an unprecedented failure to secure the nation’s borders.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed with reporters that the suspect, Mohamed Soliman, entered the United States in August 2022 on a B2 visa during the Biden administration. His visa expired in February 2023, yet he remained in the country, later filing for asylum in September 2022. This lapse in enforcement is emblematic of a broader pattern under Biden, where millions of illegal migrants crossed the southern border with little consequence, according to critics.
“Make no mistake: The horrific terrorist attack in Boulder is a direct result of the Democrats’ antisemitic, open-borders agenda,” Emmer told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement Monday. His words carry a sharp edge, accusing Democrats of not only neglecting border security but also fostering an environment hostile to Jewish Americans. The attack, which saw Soliman allegedly use a flamethrower and Molotov cocktails against pro-Israeli demonstrators, has fueled claims that lax immigration policies have endangered national safety.
Emmer didn’t stop at criticism. He praised House Republicans for their unwavering support of Jewish Americans amid a wave of antisemitic violence. He also highlighted their backing of President Trump’s aggressive deportation and immigration enforcement measures, positioning the GOP as the bulwark against what he sees as a dangerous Democratic agenda.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, House Republicans are working overtime to ensure the Jewish community is protected and radical, illegal immigrants have no refuge in America,” Emmer stated. This rhetoric aligns with a Republican narrative that paints the Biden years as a period of unchecked illegal immigration, culminating in incidents like the Boulder attack.
Details of the suspect’s actions prove the terrorist intentions. Soliman allegedly shouted “Free Palestine” before launching his attack, later telling police he “wanted to k*ll all Zionist people and wished they were all dead.” Such statements have intensified concerns about the vetting processes for migrants entering the U.S. under Biden’s watch. The Trump administration’s Department of Justice moved swiftly, charging Soliman with a federal hate crime on Monday.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, in a press release, vowed that the DOJ would hold Soliman “accountable to the fullest extent of the law.” The rapid response from the DOJ contrasts sharply with what critics argue was a lack of urgency from Democrats when it came to border security legislation during Biden’s term.
One glaring example is the Secure the Border Act (H.R. 2), which aimed to impose stricter penalties on visa overstays. In May 2023, not a single House Democrat voted in favor of the bill. This rejection is seen by critics as a refusal to address the growing problem of illegal immigration, leaving the door open for individuals like Soliman to exploit the system.
The Laken Riley Act, another GOP-backed measure, faced similar resistance. Only 46 Democrats joined Republicans in January to support legislation that would have empowered federal authorities to detain illegal migrants for various criminal offenses. The limited bipartisan support highlights a deep divide in Congress, with many Democrats seemingly hesitant to embrace tougher immigration enforcement.
President Trump himself weighed in on the Boulder attack, taking to Truth Social to lambast Biden’s policies. “The terror suspect entered the United States through Biden’s ridiculous Open Borders Policy,” Trump wrote Monday. His post reflects a sentiment among his supporters that the previous administration’s approach was not just negligent but actively harmful.
Trump didn’t mince words about the solution. “He must go out under ‘TRUMP’ Policy,” he added, emphasizing the need to deport “Illegal, Anti-American Radicals” and secure the borders. This call to action resonates with those who believe the Biden administration’s leniency created a revolving door for dangerous individuals.
Under Trump’s renewed leadership, the administration has reported significant progress. In April, encounters with illegal migrants at the southern border dropped by 95%, and “gotaways”—illegal immigrants released into the U.S.—plummeted by 99% compared to the previous year. These figures are touted as evidence that stricter policies can yield results, a stark contrast to the Biden era’s approach.
Yet, the Biden administration’s legacy on immigration continues to draw scrutiny. Critics point to the Democrats’ refusal to support Trump’s sweeping tax and spending bill, which allocated nearly $50 billion for border wall construction and $12 billion to reimburse border states for costs incurred during Biden’s term. No House Democrat voted for the measure, further fueling accusations of obstructionism.
The Boulder attack, with its overt antisemitic undertones, has amplified calls for accountability. Soliman’s ability to enter and remain in the U.S. despite an expired visa raises questions about the efficacy of immigration oversight under Biden.
