You would hope every citizen loves America. Even more so should our elected officials.
But Chris Cuomo exposed a liberal Congresswoman for hating America.
Chris Cuomo Questions AOC’s Patriotism, Says Left Has Ceded Symbols of America to GOP
Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo sharply criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and other prominent progressives during a podcast appearance, arguing they project more disdain for the United States than love, allowing Republicans to monopolize patriotic imagery.
Cuomo: AOC and Progressive “Horses” Hate More Than They Love About America
Appearing on Brian Tyler Cohen’s podcast, Cuomo contrasted AOC and the modern left with his father, former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, whom he described as an ethnic “other” who overcame discrimination yet “loved the f***ing country.”
“I don’t believe AOC — or any of your horses — I have a hard time believing they love the country,” Cuomo said.
“I think they hate more about it than they love about it. And that may be unfair. But if it is unfair, it’s because of how they’ve made their own case about themselves.”

He argued the left’s relentless focus on America’s flaws, without balancing it with affirmation, has handed symbolic patriotism to conservatives:
“Why are people surprised when they see an American flag on my truck, or in front of my house? Why were the Democrats okay with that becoming a party symbol for the GOP?”
Left Abandoned Patriotism, Cuomo Says, Despite Dissent Being “Strongest Form”
Cuomo acknowledged that dissent is a core form of patriotism but insisted progressives have failed to pair criticism with pride: “When’s the last time you heard Democrats say something good about this country?”
He added: “I can’t think of the last time I heard AOC say something good about the country.”
Cohen countered that American patriotism can be performative and jingoistic, citing his teaching experience in France, where students found rituals like the Pledge of Allegiance alien.
Cuomo rejected the framing, maintaining that the left’s one-sided critique has created a perception problem that damages Democrats politically.
The exchange comes amid broader Democratic struggles to reconnect with working-class voters who view progressive rhetoric on systemic issues as dismissive of national pride.
