Chuck Schumer buried his head in the sand after seeing the results of this latest poll

Schumer is in big trouble. He may not be a Senator for much longer.

And Chuck Schumer buried his head in the sand after seeing the results of this latest poll.

Americans are sending a clear message to Chuck Schumer: enough is enough. A fresh survey from the Economist/YouGov lays it bare—most folks are outright rejecting how the Senate Minority Leader from New York is doing his job. With disapproval hitting 52 percent, it’s no wonder people are turning away from his tactics.

The poll straight-up asked: “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Chuck Schumer is handling his job as Minority Leader of the U.S. Senate?” Only 23 percent gave him a thumbs up, while over half slammed the door on his performance. This isn’t just a blip; it’s a wake-up call for Democrats who keep pushing their agenda over everyday needs.

Republicans are leading the charge against Schumer, with 64 percent disapproving of his moves in Congress. They’re not alone—independents are right there with them at 54 percent disapproval. That leaves just a sliver, 13 percent of independents approving, showing how his leadership is alienating the heart of America.

Even within his own party, Schumer can’t rally the troops. Democrats approve at a measly 43 percent, but 35 percent of them disapprove outright. Another 22 percent aren’t sure, which speaks volumes about the confusion and doubt he’s sowing among his base.

When stacked up against other big names in Congress, Schumer comes out looking the worst. Senate Majority Leader John Thune from South Dakota, House Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries don’t face this level of backlash. Schumer’s the odd man out with a full majority turning against him.

This poll hit the streets from October 24 to 27, and 1,623 people were surveyed. With a margin of error at plus or minus 3.4 percent, these numbers hold water. They’re painting a picture of a leader out of touch and on the ropes.

All this comes at a brutal time for Democrats, who are digging in their heels against reopening the government. Schumer’s at the helm in the Senate, blocking progress and leaving families hanging. House Speaker Mike Johnson has called him out repeatedly, saying Schumer’s pulling this stunt deliberately to appease the radical left.

Johnson pointed out how Schumer flipped his script from earlier this year. He reminded everyone that Schumer backed a clean continuing resolution back in March. In fact, Johnson said Schumer even gave an “impassioned speech of why we could never inflict all this pain on the American people.”

But that good sense didn’t last. Johnson explained that when Schumer did the right thing then, he got hammered by the far-left crowd in his party. “But when he did the right thing in March, he received an onslaught of criticism from the far-left base and the Democrat Party,” Johnson stated. “He almost lost his job. Many of you wrote about it. He was in jeopardy of not winning his next reelection. That’s how serious it was.”

Schumer’s response? Huddle up with his advisors and hatch a scheme to save face. According to Johnson, they decided that next time around, no matter the cost to Americans, Schumer would dig in against it.

“So Chuck Schumer got a bunch of consultants and staff in a back room, and they concocted a plan, a political stunt, and they determined right then that the next time there was a funding measure, no matter how meritorious and no matter how much it would cause pain to the American people, that he would vote against,” Johnson said.

The goal? To pick a fight with President Trump and look tough for the extremists. Johnson nailed it: “He would show a fight to President Trump so he could save his political skin.” Now, we’re seeing the fallout as government services stall and real people pay the price.

Johnson wrapped it up by saying, “It’s exactly what happened.” He stressed that Democrats have learned a twisted lesson—they’ve got to act tough and obstructive to win over their radical fringe. “It’s their own political survival that they have put in front of the needs of the entire country,” Johnson said, driving the point home.

He didn’t stop there, repeating for emphasis: “Let me say that again: The Democrat leaders in the Senate and the House have put their own political survival in front of the needs of the American people.” This kind of self-serving behavior is why trust in Washington is in the gutter. Schumer’s poll numbers prove Americans are wise to it.

If Schumer keeps prioritizing his career over the country, expect more pushback from voters who want leaders fighting for them, not against common sense.

Republicans like Johnson are stepping up, calling out the nonsense and pushing for real solutions.

This mess highlights why the Republican Party is gaining steam—folks are tired of elite games that hurt working families.

Schumer’s disapproval rating is a rallying cry to take back control from the out-of-touch left. As the numbers show, America’s ready for change that puts people first.
