Chuck Schumer fell to his knees after a devastating attack from this Obama confidante

The Democrats are eating their own. And Republicans are just sitting back and watching the show.

And now Chuck Schumer fell to his knees after a devastating attack from this Obama confidante.

CNN commentator and former Obama adviser Van Jones took aim at Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Monday, accusing him of dishonesty about President Biden’s fitness to serve.

Schumer had earlier insisted that Democrats never misled the public about Biden’s health, a claim that Jones found laughable.

“That’s foolish,” Jones said bluntly.

“Look, obviously, Biden was in bad shape, and I was surprised. But there were people who are close who must have known better. Look, obviously, you know, a lot was known and wasn’t said and wasn’t shared. Now it’s leaking out all the time anyway. So, look, I think to have any credibility and integrity, people have to quit playing around. Like, Schumer’s nose is going to start growing if he keeps saying stuff like that.”

Jones’ remarks followed Schumer’s contentious appearance on NBC News’ Meet the Press on Sunday. Host Kristen Welker confronted Schumer with a February clip where he had confidently dismissed concerns about Biden’s cognitive health.

In the clip, Schumer proclaimed, “His mental acuity is great. It’s fine. It’s as good as it’s been over the years. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.”

Despite mounting evidence suggesting otherwise, Schumer doubled down on Sunday, insisting Democrats were honest about Biden’s health. When asked directly whether Biden could have handled another term, Schumer avoided answering, a move that didn’t go unnoticed.

Later on CNN, host Abby Phillip called Schumer’s dodge “incredibly telling.” Other panelists chimed in, agreeing that the Democrats’ defense of Biden’s condition had stretched the limits of believability.

“We saw both Joe Biden, and we saw Democrats all over the place defending him and telling us with a straight face that he was super strong, just the same as when he got in,” S.E. Cupp remarked. “That’s delusional.”

Cupp didn’t hold back, adding, “I think they were going to lose anyway. But admit it, and move on. You keep going on TV and talking like this, to Van’s point, you’re going to lose all credibility for the next time.”

CNN political commentator Scott Jennings took the criticism a step further, describing the situation as potentially one of the “biggest cover-ups in modern American political history.”

“Democrat politicians lied. Democrat pundits lied. A lot of people who cover the White House looked the other way or believed absolute crap they were being fed by the White House press secretary,” Jennings said. “To admit it now would be to say, ‘You know what, America, boy, we did try to pull the wool over your eyes and you weren’t buying it.’ I guess I understand why keeping up the charade now, to some degree, because to admit it now would be to admit this massive, huge cover-up.”

Ashley Allison, a former Biden-Harris campaign staffer, also weighed in during the CNN panel. While she acknowledged that Biden’s performance in the June debate raised questions, she softened the blow by suggesting the president might simply have “good days and bad days.”

Schumer, however, continued to play defense. He lauded Biden’s legislative record, calling it one of the most significant since Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society.

“Let’s look at President Biden. He’s had an amazing record. The legislation we passed, one of the most significant groups of legislation since Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society, putting in 235 judges, a record, and he’s a patriot. He’s a great guy, and when he stepped down he did it on his own because he thought it was better, not only for the Democratic Party, for America. We should all salute him. We should all salute him,” Schumer declared.

Yet, when Welker pressed him on whether Biden was capable of serving another four years, Schumer dodged again. “Well, I’m not going to speculate. As I said, I think his record is a stellar one, and he’ll go down in history as a really outstanding president.”

The dodging, deflecting, and outright denial from Democrats suggest they’d rather keep up appearances than admit they backed a president whose fitness was clearly in question. As Van Jones and others noted, this strategy risks obliterating any remaining credibility with the American people.
