Congressional Democrat threatens a government shutdown for this asinine reason

The Left never offers real solutions to anything. It’s why they’re so ineffective as politicians.

And this congressional Democrat has threatened a government shutdown for this asinine reason.

Minnesota Democrat Rep. Angie Craig appeared on CNN’s Laura Coates Live and refused to rule out shutting down the federal government if it means weakening Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

This comes amid growing tensions over border security, where conservatives see ICE as a vital shield against illegal immigration, while liberals push to hamstring the agency.

Craig’s comments reveal the desperate tactics some Democrats are willing to employ to advance their agenda. With budget talks looming later this month, her words send a clear message: party loyalty trumps national stability.

She tied her stance to past Democratic maneuvers, blaming Republicans for economic woes in a bid to deflect from her own party’s failures.

Host Laura Coates pressed Craig directly on the issue, highlighting the unlikelihood of Republican support for any move to limit ICE’s authority.

The exchange exposed the deep divide in Washington, where one side prioritizes law enforcement and the other seems eager to dismantle it.

Coates asked pointedly: “Congresswoman, we’re hearing that some Democrats are threatening to shut down the government unless Congress tries to curb some of the powers from ICE. It’s very unlikely, as you said, that Republicans would join in and support that. But do you support that idea?”

Craig dodged a straight yes or no, instead pivoting to criticize the current administration’s approach to law and order. Her response underscores the radical shift in Democratic priorities, putting ideology ahead of everyday Americans who rely on a functioning government.

She stated: “Well, look, I think we’re going to get into those budget discussions here later this month. Look, I think the lack of following the rule of law by this administration is egregious.”

“And I think that, while all options have to be on the table, that we’re going to look to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Democratic leadership for our guidance here, just like we did when we made sure that the American people knew that the affordability crisis is on — especially related to healthcare — is on the backs of this Republican Party.”

This isn’t just talk; it’s a playbook straight from the left’s obstructionist handbook. By invoking “all options,” Craig is essentially greenlighting a shutdown scenario that could cripple services, delay paychecks for federal workers, and disrupt the economy—all to appease anti-ICE activists.

Conservatives have long warned that Democrats view ICE not as protectors of our borders but as obstacles to their open-borders vision. Craig’s hesitation to commit one way or the other only fuels suspicions that the party is plotting behind closed doors.

Following Democratic leadership like Hakeem Jeffries means marching in lockstep with progressives who have repeatedly tried to defund or abolish ICE. This strategy ignores the real threats at the southern border, where unchecked migration strains communities and resources.

This episode on CNN isn’t isolated; it’s part of a pattern where liberals use budget battles as leverage for extreme demands.

Patriots across the country should take note: when Democrats say “all options,” they mean risking everything to weaken defenses against illegal immigration.

Craig’s words expose the hypocrisy in Democratic ranks—they decry rule of law violations while plotting to undermine the very agencies enforcing it. This double standard erodes trust in government.

As budget negotiations heat up, expect more fireworks.

But one thing is clear: conservatives must stand firm against any attempt to gut ICE, protecting American sovereignty and security above all.
