Democrat Congresswoman is in hysterics after being hit with multi-million dollar lawsuit

The Left is rarely brought to justice. But sometimes they get their just deserts.

Now a Democrat Congresswoman is in hysterics after being hit with a multi-million dollar lawsuit.

On Thursday, maverick journalist Matt Taibbi launched a $10 million libel lawsuit against a Democratic congresswoman, alleging she wrongly branded him a s*xual harasser and broadcast the accusation across her social media channels.

Taibbi took aim at Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D., Calif.) in a New Jersey federal court, charging that she dubbed him a “serial s*xual harasser” during a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing on Tuesday focused on digital censorship.

“These statements are demonstrably false and were made with actual malice—either with knowledge of their falsity or with reckless disregard for their truth,” reads Taibbi’s legal filing.

“The allegations echo prior false claims that have been the subject of legal action and multiple public corrections, of which Defendant was undoubtedly aware, evidencing her actual malice.”

Kamlager-Dove kicked off the hearing by slamming Republicans for “elevating a serial s*xual harrasser as their star witness.” While her remarks in the chamber are shielded by the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause, Taibbi contends her online megaphone—blasting those same statements—crosses the line, as it’s unrelated to her legislative role.

The congresswoman uploaded a transcript of her comments to her official website and pushed out video clips on X and Bluesky, a left-leaning social media hub.

“After this, Republicans gave Matt Taibbi time to defend himself. It’s telling that he didn’t,” she posted on both X and Bluesky.

National Review has sought a response from Kamlager-Dove’s office.

No woman has ever formally accused or charged Taibbi with s*xual harassment. The congresswoman seems to be pointing to a tongue-in-cheek passage from a book Taibbi co-wrote about crafting a Moscow nightlife guide in 1990s Russia.

Both women mentioned in that passage have spoken out in interviews, affirming Taibbi never harassed them. Multiple news outlets have since revised stories about the excerpt, noting its satirical bent and scrubbing erroneous claims about Taibbi.

“Defendant either knew the statements were false or acted with reckless disregard for their truth, ignoring prior legal action and public corrections debunking these allegations—corrections of which she was undoubtedly aware—and republishing the defamation on X, Bluesky and her website, outside the scope of her legislative duties, with intent to harm Plaintiff’s reputation,” the lawsuit declares.

Taibbi runs Racket News on Substack and gained fame for his “Twitter Files” exposé, revealing internal Twitter records that detailed the platform’s methodical silencing of conservative voices and its burial of the Hunter Biden laptop story before the 2020 election.

Tech titan Elon Musk handed those files to Taibbi and other indie reporters after buying the platform, aiming to revive its free-speech ethos. Musk later rechristened it X, rolling out sweeping changes to boost open dialogue and retain users.

Previously, Taibbi spent years as a political scribe at Rolling Stone, celebrated for his deep-dive investigations and progressive slant. He’s long railed against the U.S. national security apparatus and debunked tales of Trump-Russia collusion in 2016.

Taibbi remains a vocal watchdog on digital censorship and government pressure to stifle online speech.

He’s dug into the State Department’s Global Engagement Center—the focus of the hearing in question—which lawmakers recently defunded and retooled into a “hub” to tackle foreign meddling after shutting it down.

During the hearing, Taibbi labeled the GEC a “truth squad,” arguing it targeted Leftist social media profiles alongside conservative outlets.
