The Left can’t even toe the line in the Senate. How are they going to recover?
Because now even this Democrat Senator walked away from his party in a shocking GOP team-up.
In a recent interview, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) made it clear that he plans to vote for President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees, stating that doing so is simply “how democracy works.”
The remarks came during a Fox News interview with Bret Baier on Tuesday night, just hours after Fetterman had met with former Representative Sean Duffy (R-WI), Trump’s pick for Secretary of Transportation.
When Baier asked if Fetterman would support Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence, former Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Fetterman shared his thoughts on the matter.
“Well, you know, I met with her, in fact I think I’ve met with virtually all of them,” Fetterman began.
“And the ones that I haven’t, they’re on my schedule, RFK and Governor Noem, so I’m happy to meet with all of them.”
He went on to address the criticism he had received for engaging with Trump’s nominees.
“And that’s also part of this, I don’t know why that was controversial,” Fetterman said.
“I mean, I got a lot of blowback just, you know, even to meet with them, and to me, I see that as just doing my job, and I’m going to have a conversation with anyone that would like to have a conversation with me.”
Fetterman emphasized that his willingness to meet with nominees was simply about fulfilling his responsibilities.
“And if someone believed everything that’s been written or said about me was true, I mean, you can’t possibly know me, or I think I could know her either, just based on someone read,” he explained.
“But I’m going to sit down and have a conversation, and I’m really glad that I’ve done that, and some of these nominees I’m going to vote for already.”
Fetterman made it clear that he’s already decided to vote for some of Trump’s picks, including Duffy, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) for Secretary of State, Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) for U.N. Ambassador, and Brooke Rollins for Secretary of Agriculture.
“So there’s a lot of them, I can say right now here on FOX, I’m going to vote for them,” he said.
“But then there’s others that we’re going to go through the process, but I’m open to hear from everyone, and I don’t know why that’s controversial.”
The senator wrapped up his comments by offering a reminder to his fellow Democrats about the nature of democracy. “And I also would like to remind everyone on the Democratic side, that’s the way democracy works,” Fetterman stated.
“Trump won, and now they’re going to run the table, and so they get to pick those kinds of people, and if you don’t have to agree with all of it, but I want to find a way to work together on a bunch of them.”
