Donald Trump just lost a major Senate ally after what this top Republican just announced

Trump can’t afford to lose anymore allies. But that’s what’s about to happen.

And Donald Trump just lost a major Senate ally after what this top Republican just announced.

Tommy Tuberville Kicks Off 2026 Alabama Governor Campaign with Bold Vision

On Tuesday, Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville unveiled his candidacy for Alabama governor in 2026, igniting excitement with a campaign rooted in his deep ties to the state and a promise to lead with conviction.

The announcement, made official through a new campaign website, highlights Tuberville’s commitment to “conservative Alabama values” and sets the stage for a dynamic race.

Tuberville, a staunch ally of President Donald Trump, wasted no time taking his message to the airwaves, making his first post-announcement appearance on Fox News’ The Will Cain Show. Standing among family and friends at an Auburn barbecue restaurant, the former college football coach radiated enthusiasm.

“I’m doing this to help this country and the great state of Alabama,” Tuberville declared. “I’m a football coach. I’m a leader. I’m a builder. I’m a recruiter, and we’re going to grow Alabama.”

His vision for the state is ambitious and clear. “We’re going to bring manufacturing to this state. We’re going to stop this illegal immigration. We’re going to make education better again, and we’re going to do everything possible to make sure our kids… stay in this state and work,” he told Fox News, outlining a platform aimed at economic growth, border security, and opportunity for Alabama’s youth.

Tuberville’s decision to run ends weeks of swirling speculation about his political ambitions. The former Auburn University head coach, who led the Tigers for a decade, has long been a towering figure in Alabama.

Just last week, Fox News reported that Tuberville confided in donors at private gatherings about his plans to enter the governor’s race. A source close to the senator also revealed to Fox News that an endorsement from Trump was a “done deal” if Tuberville chose to run—a pledge the senator confirmed, noting that Trump is “fully supportive” of his campaign.

The senator’s bid is further strengthened by the backing of the Club for Growth, a powerful fiscal conservative group known for its influence in Republican primaries.

With this support, Tuberville emerges as a leading contender to replace term-limited Governor Kay Ivey in Alabama, a state that leans heavily Republican.

In a surprising twist, Alabama Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth, widely expected to pursue the governorship, announced last week that he would not run, clearing a significant hurdle for Tuberville’s campaign. The senator’s path to the governor’s mansion now appears even more promising.

Tuberville’s political journey began in 2020 when he won his Senate seat as a political outsider closely aligned with Trump. In a high-profile Republican primary, he bested former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who had served as Alabama’s senator before becoming Trump’s attorney general.

Tuberville then defeated incumbent Democratic Senator Doug Jones, marking a historic return of the seat to Republican hands.

As Tuberville shifts his focus to the governor’s race, his Senate seat will become an open contest in the 2026 midterm elections, setting the stage for a new chapter in Alabama’s political landscape. This will also mean that President Trump will lose a strong ally in the U.S. Senate.

With his coaching grit, conservative credentials, and high-profile endorsements, Tuberville is poised to rally Alabama voters around his vision for a stronger, more prosperous state.
