All eyes are on Donald Trump as he mulls over who will be his running mate. The competition is cut throat.
And now a GOP Senator leaked crucial info about Trump’s VP pick.
According to a Republican senator, none of the names swirling around in former President Donald Trump’s quest for a running mate are likely to make the final cut.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) spoke with POLITICO on Trump’s quest for a vice president to serve with him in a second term, which has sparked widespread speculation in the run-up to the November election following two campaigns with Mike Pence as his running mate.
“He’ll ask you about people,” Tuberville said, adding, “All I can tell you is, if you’re hearing any names, it ain’t going to be them. It’s all propaganda.”
Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Katie Britt (R-AL), and J.D. Vance (R-OH) are rumored to be under consideration, as is South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) and Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Byron Donalds (R-FL).
The article also stated that Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as Trump’s White House press secretary, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who ran against Trump in the Republican primary this cycle, are being considered.
The New York Post claimed last month that Trump had rejected former GOP challenger Vivek Ramaswamy for vice president but would consider him for a Cabinet position.
Donald Trump Jr., the former president’s eldest son, told the outlet that he is looking for a “fighter” such as journalist Tucker Carlson, Vance, or Ramaswamy.
Trump has floated many names, including Scott and Noem, while emphasizing that he has “a lot of good people” to select from.
According to POLITICO, Susan Wiles, a former President Trump adviser, is putting together a short list of potential vice presidential candidates.
One insider even suggested Trump may “draw this out ‘Apprentice’-syle,” a reference to his old reality TV show on NBC.
Tuberville drew on his experience as a college football coach to disregard all of the hoopla around the vice presidential search.
“Like football coaches whenever there’s a job opening, my agent always put my name in there to get me a raise, get me publicity and all that,” he said.
President Joe Biden, like Trump, has amassed enough delegates to secure his party’s nomination.
And, for now, he is sticking with Kamala Harris, even though many on the Left believe she is more of a liability.
In fact, Harris has a lower approval rating than even Joe Biden.
Based on FiveThirtyEight polling averages, Kamala has an average approval rating of 37.1% compared to Biden’s 39.2%.
They both are worse-for-wear.
Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just revealed that Nicole Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, will be his running mate.
Shanahan was a major donor and political operative for Joe Biden in 2020, so her addition to the campaign is likely to hurt Biden far more than Trump.
