Old alliances are over
According to a new allegation regarding the dying minutes of his campaign, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi threatened to publicly trash President Biden if he did not end his reelection bid, prompting the then-ailing commander-in-chief to make a “come to Jesus” choice to call it quits.
Insiders informed the Daily Mail that Pelosi sent an urgent message to the 81-year-old president last month when he was still recovering from COVID-19 at his Delaware beach property.
Pelosi reportedly threatened to publicly humiliate her longtime friend and political ally if he continued to defy loud calls to withdraw from the 2024 election due to concerns about his cognitive ability, according to four campaign sources.
According to the individuals, Pelosi vowed to make public with her opinion that her fellow Democrat would lose a rematch against the Republican contender, former President Donald Trump, and to provide humiliating polling data to back it up.
The desire was apparently strong enough for Biden to have a “come to Jesus” moment, during which he and his staff began crafting the letter that halted his 2024 presidential campaign, which was published on July 21.
Biden admits it’s all true
In his first television interview since withdrawing from the contest and pushing Vice President Kamala Harris to succeed him, Biden revealed that worried Democrats forced him out.
“A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races,” Biden told CBS News Sunday Morning, before name-dropping Pelosi.
“I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic — you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say [something] … and I thought it’d be a real distraction,” he added before calling himself a “transition president.”
Pelosi, 84, said that she spoke with Biden and took calls from concerned Democrats, many of whom were dissatisfied with their 2024 electoral prospects before he withdrew.
A former Biden senior advisor who now works for the Harris campaign said Pelosi was “absolutely” to blame for the president’s ouster.
“You know, clearly there were leaders of the party who decided to go ahead and go very public. And that gave permission to other people to go public,” former White House senior adviser on communications Anita Dunn told Politico.
Enemies of democracy
Dunn also accused the Democratic Party of neglecting voters who had supported Biden in the primaries, describing it as “a very donor-driven thing.”
Despite Biden winning the vast majority of the delegates and garnering millions of votes from Democrats in the primaries, it didn’t matter.
The Left wants to win, no matter who they have stiff.
And that includes the American people and the voters who chose him as the candidate.
