The U.S. Supreme Court’s been facing intense scrutiny. Now it’s reached a head.
As Supreme Court Justices are absolutely shell-shocked by this unprecedented U.S. Senate subpoena.
Back in 2018 when Brett Kavanaugh was announced to be the next nominee to be added to the U.S. Supreme Court bench, everyone knew how utterly massive that moment was. His addition to the bench would cement a conservative majority amongst the justices serving on the nation’s High Court.
The Left was utterly obsessed with trying to stop Brett Kavanaugh from getting confirmed, so much so that they were willing to commit character assassination and drag Kavanaugh and his family through the mud on phony s*xual assault claims. These claims were so laughable, any self-respecting legal or forensic expert knew that Christine Blasey Ford’s claims against Kavanaugh were a joke.
Then in 2020, Amy Barrett was nominated to replace the recently passed Ruth Bader Ginsburg but the Left was already powerless to do anything about it. They tried to paint the honorable Mrs. Barrett as a radical Christian white supremacist simply because she’s a dedicated Roman Catholic, but the game was already over. She was easily confirmed to the bench.
The addition of those two newest justices completely changed the U.S. Supreme Court and the direction of the nation forever.
Already, we’ve seen utterly massive rulings handed down on truly critical issues like abortion, the right to bear arms, immigration, and even the attempt to kick former President Trump from the ballot in states like Colorado.
On many of these issues, the Left has had to face the reality that they are losing. But that’s only made the radical Left grow even more extreme, even to the degree that they are trying to delegitimize the U.S. Supreme Court all together.
They’ve been peddling unfounded claims and conspiracy theories that the U.S. Supreme Court Justices are in some sort of shadow alliance with Republicans to give them favorable rulings on these major cases.
The latest example of this comes from how U.S. Senate Democrats have just sent out an unprecedented subpoena to a one Leonard Leo in a witch hunt as the Democrats are grasping for straws for anything to paint the U.S. Supreme Court as ethically compromised.
Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Dick Durbin, issued a subpoena to conservative activist Leonard Leo on Thursday as part of the committee’s inquiry into Leo’s engagements with Supreme Court justices.
The Democrats on the committee had previously voted to approve the subpoena back in November, despite strong objections from Republicans who deemed it politically motivated. According to a letter from Leo’s attorney to Durbin, Leo has indicated that he does not plan to comply with the subpoena.
In a statement provided to reporters, Leo, who serves as the executive vice president of The Federalist Society, criticized the subpoena as “unlawful and politically motivated,” and expressed his refusal to comply, attributing the move to what he described as Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and the Left’s endeavor to silence opposition.
“Today, I received an unlawful and politically motivated subpoena from U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin,” Leonard Leo shared. “I am not capitulating to his lawless support of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and the left’s dark money effort to silence and cancel political opposition.”
Durbin, in response, noted Leo’s persistent refusal to cooperate with the committee’s requests since July 2023, stating that such defiance left them with no recourse but to resort to compulsory measures.
Durbin accused Leo of playing a significant role in the ethics issues surrounding the Supreme Court and emphasized that the subpoena was a direct consequence of Leo’s actions.
“Mr. Leo has played a central role in the ethics crisis plaguing the Supreme Court and, unlike the other recipients of information requests in this matter, he has done nothing but stonewall the Committee,” U.S. Senate Democrat Durbin shared in a statement sent to media outlets.
Leo had previously contested the committee’s inquiries into his interactions with Supreme Court justices, arguing that they exceeded the committee’s investigative authority as outlined by the Constitution.
In a related development, the Supreme Court adopted a code of ethics on November 13, aligning its rules with those followed by lower court judges.
