Top Leftist senator makes absurd statement that could destroy the Democrat Party

The radical Left has done it again. They’ve put their foot in their mouth in the most damaging way.

And a top Leftist senator made an absurd statement that could destroy the Democrat Party.

In the heart of America’s ongoing political battles, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is doubling down on his party’s stubborn stance amid the government shutdown that’s hammering hardworking folks across the nation. As thousands of federal employees go without paychecks, Booker struts around praising Democrats for digging in their heels, refusing to budge unless Republicans roll over on healthcare demands.

This shutdown, the first in over six years, kicked off last Wednesday, leaving essential services in limbo and real Americans paying the price. Yet Booker, a vocal Democrat who’s consistently shot down bipartisan efforts to get the government back up and running, sees it as some kind of heroic stand.

“I am proud of those people who are standing up right now and saying, we’re not doing business as usual in Washington with this many millions of Americans are literally going to be hurt,” Booker said to ABC News’ This Week after being asked about Democrat leadership and if they should make more moves to end the government shutdown.

He went on to paint a picture of national emergency, insisting that unity is key but conveniently ignoring his side’s role in the gridlock. “We are in a crisis. We need a president to stand up and bring us together to help to solve the problems of American people.”

Flash back to last month: The Republican-controlled House stepped up and passed a straightforward continuing resolution to keep the lights on through November 21. It was a clean bill, no strings attached, aimed at preventing exactly this kind of mess.

But in the Senate, all but three Democrats clamped down on the filibuster, stonewalling any chance for a vote. With the 60-vote threshold standing firm, procedural votes have topped out at just 55 supporters, leaving the measure dead in the water.

Democrats aren’t hiding their agenda—they’re holding the government hostage to force Republicans to scrap recent Medicaid changes and pump more cash into expiring Obamacare subsidies. It’s a classic power play, prioritizing their big-government healthcare obsession over getting paychecks to families.

Republicans, to their credit, have made it clear: Let’s handle the shutdown first, then talk subsidies. Keeping these issues separate makes sense—why tangle up emergency funding with long-term policy fights?

Booker, ever the dramatist, brushes off any talk of accountability. “I don’t care about the blame game,” he said. “I care about Americans losing their health insurance, rates of death going up, hospitals being crushed, medical services ending in places in rural America. This is a tsunami of Donald Trump’s creation.”

Meanwhile, GOP estimates peg the Democrats’ demands at a whopping $1.5 trillion over the next ten years—talk about fiscal recklessness that burdens taxpayers.

The senator didn’t stop there, accusing Republicans of dodging talks. “You’ve seen Chuck Schumer go to the podium, negotiate with us, almost begging the president to bring the parties together, like he said, Donald Trump literally has said, it’s the president’s responsibility to bring the parties together and negotiate a way through,” Booker stated.

House Speaker Mike Johnson from Louisiana is holding the line, keeping the chamber recessed since they’ve already passed the clean CR. He’s right— the House did its job; now it’s on the Senate Democrats to stop playing games.

Over in the upper chamber, Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota keeps pushing for votes on that same no-nonsense resolution, showing real leadership in the face of obstruction.

As the standoff drags on, everyday Americans—border agents, air traffic controllers, and park rangers—are caught in the crossfire, wondering when Washington will prioritize them over partisan wins.

Neither side is backing down yet, but if history teaches us anything, it’s that the American people won’t tolerate elites like Booker holding their livelihoods ransom for ideological gains.

It’s time for Democrats to wake up and fund the government without the extortion.
