And now a CNN analyst has gone rogue by making this stunning confession about Joe Biden.
There’s a reason why there’s a general air about the 2024 presidential election that Joe Biden is going to be in for a rough ride, largely due to the fact that he’s one of the most vulnerable incumbent presidents in recent American history.
A struggling economy is a major indicator of how unlikely an incumbent president is to get a second term, and that’s probably the biggest issue that President Biden is facing right now in his campaign to win another four years in the Oval Office.
In all the national surveys ahead of the general election this November that is likely going to be between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, former President Trump has been dominating Joe Biden unlike anyone would have predicted just a few short years ago when Biden was inaugurated.
Pollsters have noted that this is extremely concerning if you’re in the Joe Biden camp and corner because Donald Trump almost never even got close in any of the national surveys in the 2016 & 2020 presidential elections. That’s significant because Trump won in 2016 and almost did in 2020. Now, with a national swing in store for Donald Trump, as of now, that could be upwards of 4 or 5 points, Joe Biden is up against it.
Recently, Joe Biden got even worse news from the polls that demonstrated that he was losing favorability with one of his most critical supporting voting blocs. That would be the young voters that have historically backed Joe Biden and Democrats in the past several elections.
Some experts have suggested that Joe Biden is losing support with younger voters because of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, specifically because of Biden’s unwillingness to outright condemn Israel. That’s ultimately what the radical “progressives” want from him, but he’s been trying and failing to play the balancing game of staying on the fence.
But a CNN data analyst just proved that Biden started losing his support from younger voters well before the Israel-Hamas conflict that exploded onto the scene last fall.
CNN’s senior data reporter, Harry Enten, debunked the notion that President Joe Biden’s waning support among young voters is solely linked to the Israel-Hamas conflict. According to Enten, Biden’s decline in favorability among young voters began before the conflict erupted.
“This is one of those cases where I feel like the conventional wisdom has got ahead of what the actual numbers are for telling us,” Enten noted on air.
“So you go back, young voters, Biden versus Trump margin. You look at the final 2020 polls. You saw Biden won these voters by 29 points. You look at the last month, 2024 polls. You see, they’re only favoring Biden by about five percentage points. You go my goodness, gracious, 29 to five. That’s a huge shift. Gaza and Israel has made a major impact on the election,” he added.
Despite Biden’s advocacy for a ceasefire and his provision of aid to Israel, which has been engaged in a conflict with Hamas, Enten argued that other factors are at play in Biden’s diminishing support among young voters. He emphasized that the shift away from Biden among young voters predates the recent Middle East conflict.
“Young voters were beginning to turn on Joe Biden before any of this conflict, of the recent conflict in the Middle East started anyway. So the pre-Israel-Hamas war numbers, if you look in 2024 polls, Biden was only favored by 11 points. So we already saw an 18 point shift away from him. Yes, there has been a little bit of a degradation in his numbers, but the fact of the matter is, most of the shift away from Biden was already happening before the recent war started on October 7,” the CNN analyst went on to say.
Enten highlighted statistical data to support his claim, citing a significant decrease in Biden’s margin of victory among young voters between the 2020 election and recent polling.
He pointed out that even before the conflict, Biden’s lead over his Republican rival had dwindled substantially among young voters.
While some polling suggests a connection between Biden’s handling of the conflict and his declining support among young voters, Enten underscored that broader issues are contributing to this trend. He mentioned Biden’s ongoing efforts to alleviate student loan debt for millions of Americans as another factor potentially influencing young voters’ perceptions of the president.
