Governor DeSantis has been eying a bid for the presidency for months now.
Ever since his landslide victory for re-election where he won by almost 1.5 million votes, many have egged him on to run.
Well, we now have our answer. But it’s not only the announcement, but the way he announced that made history.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched his candidacy for President of the United States on Twitter on Wednesday evening.
DeSantis submitted paperwork with the Federal Election Commission earlier in the afternoon and released his official launch video on the site at 6 p.m. EST, which initially crashed due to hundreds of thousands of people trying to tune in.
“Our border is a disaster. Crime infests our cities. The federal government makes it harder for families to make ends meet. And the president flounders,” DeSantis said in the video. “But decline is a choice. Success is attainable. And freedom is worth fighting for.”
“Righting the ship requires restoring sanity to our society, normalcy to our communities, and integrity to our institutions. Truth must be our foundation — and common sense can no longer be an uncommon virtue. In Florida, we proved that it can be done,” he continued.
“We chose facts over fear, education over indoctrination, law and order over rioting and disorder. We held the line when freedom hung in the balance.”
“We showed that we can — and must — revitalize America. We need the courage to lead and the strength to win,” he concluded. “I’m Ron DeSantis, and I’m running for president to lead our Great American Comeback.”

DeSantis held a special Twitter event with the platform’s owner, Elon Musk, which Musk said was so popular that it failed due to server overload.
“The servers are straining somewhat,” Musk said at one point as 700,000+ people logged into the event.

DeSantis’ campaign is likely to be heavily focused on his accomplishments as governor of Florida, nicknamed the “Florida Blueprint,” and how he can apply that expertise to the national level as President of the United States.
While recent polls show former President Donald Trump with substantial leads over the rest of the race, DeSantis’ campaign intends to shrink the gap when his campaign gets underway.
As a result of his management of the COVID pandemic, which included defying the Trump administration’s chief public health voice in pandemic policy, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and opposing severe “lockdown” measures, the governor rose to prominence in the Republican Party.
As a result, throughout the previous few years, the state has topped the country in net-in migration.
Former Trump administration official James Uthmeier, who now serves as DeSantis’ chief of staff, said he’s never seen anyone as hands-on with legislation as DeSantis.
“He sits and talks through the nitty-gritty of policy and the budget,” Uthmeier said. “He’s ingrained in the process in a way I haven’t seen working in the Trump Administration or with other public officials.”
The showdown between Don and Ron is on, and the Republican Party can rest easy knowing that either candidate will be a strong contender against the Biden campaign.
