Controversy Arises as Harris Campaign Edits Tim Walz’s Biography Amid Backlash
The Harris campaign found itself in hot water recently after quietly editing part of the biography of Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The move, which involved the removal of the title “retired command sergeant major” from Walz’s bio, has sparked debate and criticism, particularly from the Republican side.
During a Thursday appearance on CNN’s “The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer,” Bryan Lanza, a former Trump campaign advisor, expressed his disapproval of the Harris campaign’s decision. Lanza shared the panel with Karen Finney, a former senior advisor to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, where the two discussed the implications of the biography’s revision. Lanza pointed out that the edit followed backlash from Republicans who questioned the accuracy of Walz’s military record. He noted that the adjustment to the biography is a significant admission that the original information was misleading.
Lanza criticized the move as a “huge backpedal” and “an embarrassment,” arguing that it reflected poorly on both Walz and the Harris campaign. He mentioned that Walz “sort of admitted that he lied,” referring to the revision of his military rank from “retired command sergeant major” to his actual title, “master sergeant.”
According to a statement from the Minnesota National Guard, Walz was only conditionally promoted to the rank of command sergeant major and never completed the necessary training to make the promotion permanent, retiring instead as a master sergeant in 2005.
Lanza also commented on President Trump’s press conference earlier that day, noting that while Trump focused on the upcoming presidential debates, he did not address the controversy surrounding Walz’s biography.
In response to Lanza’s remarks, Karen Finney defended Walz, emphasizing his 24 years of honorable service in the military. Finney dismissed Lanza’s claims, asserting that Walz’s comments about carrying a weapon in war were not meant to imply active combat duty, but rather reflected his experience during deployment. She highlighted the importance of Walz’s long service, arguing that the focus should be on whether or not an individual has served the country, rather than the specifics of their military record.
The controversy gained further traction after CNN aired a video promoted by the Harris campaign, in which Walz stated his intention to ban the type of weapons he “carried in war.” CNN correspondent Tom Foreman later reported that there was “no evidence” to support Walz’s claim that he carried weapons in a combat situation. In response, the Harris campaign issued a statement clarifying that Walz had “carried, fired, and trained others to use weapons of war innumerable times” and that his remarks were not intended to insult or undermine any American’s service to the country.
Harris Campaign Propagandists Try To Obfuscate The Truth
What’s interesting about this exchange is that it highlights how some of the staunch Harris campaign propagandists and foot soldiers are putting in all the work they can to dismiss real criticisms that could be lobbed against the Harris-Walz ticket.
If you bring up the fact that Kamala Harris has never earned a single vote from Democrat voters in a primary to earn a single delegate, they’ll tell you that because she was Vice President it’s totally fair. The Democrat Party establishment is all behind her so there’s no need to suggest she hasn’t earned her place in a general election. Not only that, but they’ll tell you she’s one of the most qualified candidates in American history!
If you try to point out that Tim Walz clearly lied about his rank in the military, they just say you’re trying to discredit his more than twenty years of service. Two things can be true, of course. It can be true that Walz has despicably lied about his rank in the military and also generally served in the military well for twenty years. That’s a pesky nuance though that’s too difficult for the propagandists. It’s easier to just label anyone who criticizes Walz as a spreader of “misinformation”.
Meanwhile, any and all criticisms of Donald Trump are not only valid, but specifically disqualifying for him. They say he’s a rac*st, s*xist, a bigot, a pathological liar, a thief, and on and on the list goes. You’re just expected to accept these labels of Trump at face value with no questions asked. If you don’t, maybe you’re just as bad as he is. That’s what these propagandists would have you believe.
The goal of the Democrat Party propagandists is to obfuscate the truth and put the focus on something else. The sad part is it seems to work shockingly well. Kamala Harris has a shot at winning the Presidency in the most unprecedented fashion, largely with a ton of help from the Democrat establishment and the media doing her propaganda work for her.
