It’s almost election season again. That means there will be lots of drama on the way.
And a top Republican dropped out of the race in a shocking announcement.
In a bold move that’s firing up Arizona conservatives, Republican powerhouse Karrin Taylor Robson has decided to pull the plug on her gubernatorial bid, clearing the deck for Rep. Andy Biggs to charge ahead.
Robson dropped the news in a statement on Thursday, explaining she reached this point after “deep reflection, prayer, and many conversations with my family.”
She didn’t mince words about the risks of a messy fight: “But we cannot afford a divisive Republican primary that drains resources and turns into months of intraparty attacks.”
“It only weakens our conservative cause and gives the left exactly what they want: a fractured Republican Party heading into November. With so much on the line in 2026, I am not willing to contribute to that outcome.”
Even as she bows out, Robson made it crystal clear she’s still in the trenches: “While I am stepping back from this race, I am not stepping back from the fight for Arizona’s future.”
This isn’t Robson’s first rodeo in the Grand Canyon State’s political arena. She jumped into the fray back in 2025, building on her previous run three years earlier when she couldn’t clinch the nomination against Kari Lake, who ultimately fell short against Democrat Katie Hobbs.
Per AZ Central, Robson poured her heart—and her wallet—into this campaign, shelling out over $2 million of her own cash right after snagging an endorsement from the big man himself, President Trump, in December 2024.
But as the months ticked by, the winds shifted hard toward Biggs, squeezing Robson’s chances in a race that’s all about rallying the base against the liberal machine.
Trump didn’t hold back, slapping a second endorsement on Biggs last April, recognizing the congressman’s unyielding stand for America First principles, per AZ Central.
Drew Sexton, Biggs’ spokesman, nailed it back in August: “Congressman Andy Biggs enters August as the clear favorite in the GOP Primary Election and stands well-positioned as the strongest candidate to defeat Katie Hobbs in November 2026.”
“He’s the only candidate to be endorsed by President Donald J. Trump and Charlie Kirk, the only candidate with an impeccable conservative voting record, and the only candidate with the governing experience at the state and federal level to provide strong leadership for Arizona from Day One.”
With Robson stepping aside, the path is now wide open for Biggs to unite the party and deliver a knockout blow to Hobbs, who’s been pushing the same failed liberal policies that have Arizonans fed up.
