Democrats need to come up with a better strategy quickly. They got walloped in November.
And now a DNC official completely eviscerated Kamala Harris for this embarrassing reason.
A top Democratic National Committee official has slammed speculation about Vice President Kamala Harris making another run for president or seeking the governorship in California, calling such ambitions detached from reality after the party’s humiliating defeat in the 2024 elections.
Lidy Li, the DNC’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Chairwoman and a 2024 campaign surrogate for Harris, has been unsparing in her criticism of the party.
She described Harris’s campaign as a “billion-dollar disaster” and pinned much of the blame for the Democrats’ collapse on the vice president’s inability to connect with voters.
Reports suggest Harris has told allies she is keeping her options open, including a potential presidential run in 2028 or a bid for California governor in 2026 after Gov. Gavin Newsom’s term ends.
But Li dismissed these notions outright, calling them “delusions” in light of the drubbing the Democrats took at the polls.
“Nov. 5 was a decisive defeat for the Democratic Party,” Li said during an appearance on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom.
“She lost every single swing state. It wasn’t a squeaker like it was in 2016; this was a resounding defeat. Right now, Kamala Harris is indulging in delusions of running for governor of California in 2026 or even president again in 2028.”

The numbers back up Li’s scathing assessment. Harris lost to President-elect Donald Trump by a substantial margin of 312-226 in the Electoral College, alongside a popular vote deficit of more than 2 million votes.
For many Democrats, this decisive loss has sparked introspection and criticism over what went wrong.
“America has said, we do not want to be coconut-pilled; we do not want failed border policies,” Li declared, delivering a stinging rebuke of her party’s approach to immigration.
“And I feel like I’m liberated, and I can finally tell the truth that the Democrats completely failed on the border. You shouldn’t be called bigoted or racist because you want strong borders for the United States.”
Harris had tried to moderate her stance on immigration during her campaign, but it wasn’t enough to counter Trump’s resolute message on border security — a theme that resonated strongly with voters in key battleground states.
Li didn’t stop at policy critiques, calling the Democratic Party a “cult” for its inability to tolerate dissent or self-reflection.
“Because in a cult, you can’t tell the truth, you can’t ask any questions, but I’m done with that,” she said, doubling down on earlier remarks about the “stench of loser” surrounding the party.
For now, Harris has not announced any concrete plans for her political future. Her term as vice president will end in January when Trump takes office, leaving Harris and the Democratic Party at a crossroads as they assess their path forward after a staggering political defeat.
