It’s finally happening. Donald Trump is about to pull off the impossible.
As he’s on the cusp of the most important achievement in modern history.
Americans have watched in horror as war has broken out in Eastern Europe between Ukraine and Russia and has also broken out in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas terrorists. Countless innocent individuals have lost their lives in the middle of these conflicts, and while the Joe Biden administration has been claiming to have been working on peace deals in these conflicts, there has been no real movement in that direction.
Donald Trump, on his campaign trail, made the shocking promise that he would be able to secure a peace deal between Israel and Hamas potentially before he even steps into office. Time is running out on getting it done before inauguration day, but there’s news that Donald Trump truly is on the cusp of securing a deal for Hamas to release the hostages and bring a truce to the table.
Incoming President Trump shared in an interview recently that he’s “very close” to getting a deal done, but he also warns anyone who might try to derail the deal that there will be consequences for failing to get this done right now. It is not an overstatement that Donald Trump leading this deal would be the most incredible foreign policy achievement in decades.
Trump Warns of ‘A Lot of Trouble’ if Hostage Deal Fails as Negotiations Near Completion
As talks over the Hamas hostage deal draw to a close, President-elect Donald Trump issued a stark warning on Monday, expressing concern that failure to secure the release of hostages could trigger significant unrest. Speaking on Newsmax’s Rob Schmitt Tonight, Trump emphasized that the negotiations were in their final stages, with the potential for serious consequences if they fall through.
“We’re very close to getting it done, and they have to get it done. If they don’t get it done and there’s going to be a lot of trouble out there, a lot of trouble like they have never seen before and they will get it done. And I understand there’s been a handshake in getting it finished, and maybe by the end of the week but it has to take place,” Trump stated.
The negotiations aim to bring an end to the suffering of hostages who have endured more than 600 days of captivity, with many held under deplorable conditions in tunnels and cramped spaces. Trump highlighted the dire nature of the situation, pointing out that the hostages were often confined in tunnels that were barely large enough to move in. “They lived in tunnels that were three feet high in some cases, some cases less than that with closed ends. Can you imagine that, and they’ve been like this so long?” Trump remarked, emphasizing the cruelty of their captivity.
He also expressed his belief that this situation would never have arisen if he had been president, adding, “This would have never happened if I was president, never would have happened.”
The deal comes after an extended period of over 600 days in which hostages suffered under Hamas control. Trump commented on the human toll, stating, “It’s a horrible thing. A lot of people have died and the numbers are, you know, part of the deal is we’re going to bring bodies out.”
Trump’s comments are much more “tough” on the Hamas authorities in Palestine, showing he’s particularly concerned regarding its financial relationship with Iran. He suggested that the current administration’s policies have inadvertently strengthened Iran both financially and strategically. “Iran didn’t have the money to give them. Iran was broke essentially and you know they have a lot of money, although they have been hurt over the last few months certainly,” he said.
The situation surrounding the hostages is intertwined with broader geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump’s remarks also touched on how U.S. foreign policy decisions have played a role in shifting power dynamics in the Middle East and beyond.
Mediators involved in the complex negotiations have reportedly presented a final draft of the deal to both Israel and Hamas. This development follows a breakthrough in talks, with both U.S. representatives from the outgoing Biden administration and those linked to the incoming Trump team participating in the discussions. This breakthrough marks a crucial step toward potentially ending the Gaza war, according to a Reuters report citing an official familiar with the matter.
As the deal edges closer to fruition, attention now turns to the final stages of negotiation, with the possibility that an agreement could be reached by the end of the week. Should the deal falter, Trump’s warnings suggest the fallout could extend well beyond the Middle East.
Leading up to Donald Trump’s first term, the political establishment criticized Trump as an “outsider” who would be in over his head on foreign policy matters. Interestingly enough, foreign policy success and achievements has been a crowning part of Trump’s tenure in the spotlight. Trump brokered the U.S.-UAB peace deal known as the Abraham Accords agreement back in 2020. Now he’s on the cusp of another major peace deal.
