Biden has no class. And nothing makes it more evident than this.
Because Joe Biden made a gross insult after announcing this politician’s death.
President Biden addressed the nation on Sunday, delivering remarks in the wake of former President Jimmy Carter’s passing. While paying tribute to Carter’s life and legacy, Biden also took the opportunity to aim a pointed remark at President-elect Trump during his speech.
Speaking with a noticeable hoarseness, Biden expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of a “dear friend.” Carter, who had been in hospice care for nearly two years, died in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, at the remarkable age of 100.
“Some look at Jimmy Carter and see a man of a bygone era with honesty and character,” Biden said. “Faith and humility mattered, but I don’t believe it’s a bygone era. We’d all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter.”
Biden reflected on his relationship with Carter, which spanned more than five decades. Sharing a personal anecdote, Biden recounted their first major political interaction during the 1970s when Carter, then the governor of Georgia, asked for his help in a presidential campaign.
“He grabbed me by the arm and said, ‘I need you to help with my campaign,’” Biden recalled. “I said, ‘I’ve only been around a couple of years, Mr. Governor.’ He said, ‘No, it’ll make a difference.’”
Biden remembered endorsing Carter not only for his policies but for the values he embodied. “When I endorsed him for president, I told him why [I] was endorsing him and that it was not only his policies but his character, his decency, the honor he communicated to everyone,” Biden said.
When asked by a reporter what lessons Trump might take from Carter’s legacy, Biden did not mince words.
“Decency. Decency, decency, decency,” he emphasized. “Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?”
Trump, meanwhile, issued a statement on Truth Social reacting to Carter’s death.
In his remarks, Trump acknowledged the unique challenges Carter faced during his presidency, calling it “a pivotal time for our country.”
“Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History,” Trump wrote. “For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude.”
Despite their ideological differences, Trump extended respect to Carter’s commitment to the country.
“He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect,” Trump said. “He was truly a good man and, of course, will be greatly missed.”
Former Presidents Obama, Clinton, and Bush also issued statements commemorating Carter’s life and contributions.
Their remarks reflected the bipartisan admiration for a leader who left a lasting impact both during and after his time in the Oval Office.
Carter’s death marks the end of an era, as he is remembered not just for his presidency but for a post-political legacy that embodied service, compassion, and decency.
His example, Biden suggested, is one that Americans of all political persuasions should strive to follow.
