The DNC descended into chaos after these Democrats started betraying each other

The Left has no game plan. The mission right now is to salvage what they can.

But the DNC descended into chaos after these Democrats started betraying each other.

DNC Chairman Slams Hogg’s Divisive Power Grab

Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin issued a sharp rebuke of DNC vice chair David Hogg on Thursday, condemning the 25-year-old’s audacious plan to funnel $20 million into insurgent primary campaigns against sitting House Democrats. Martin called Hogg’s actions a betrayal of the party’s principles, accusing him of undermining the DNC’s impartial role in primaries.

“Let me be clear. No DNC officer should ever attempt to influence the outcome of a primary election on behalf of an incumbent or challenger,” Martin, 51, told DNC members during a call. “If you want to challenge incumbents, you can do that. Just not as an officer of the DNC.”

Hogg, a Parkland shooting survivor turned gun control activist, has sparked fury among party loyalists with his scheme to bankroll challengers in safe Democratic districts.

Elected as a DNC vice chair in February, Hogg wasted no time exploiting party resources, using DNC contact lists to fundraise for his Leaders We Deserve PAC. His latest move to target incumbents has drawn accusations of arrogance and disloyalty, with critics arguing it exposes the Democrats’ fractured leadership and obsession with internal power struggles.

Party Insiders Decry Hogg’s Betrayal of Neutrality

Hogg’s brazen tactics have drawn sharp criticism from across the political spectrum. Former RNC boss Reince Priebus didn’t mince words on ABC News’ This Week April 20, telling Hogg he would have been “removed from the party” for such antics under his watch.

Martin echoed this sentiment, stressing the DNC’s role as a neutral arbiter: “Our job is to be neutral arbiters. We can’t be both the referee and also the player at the same time.” He reiterated, “As I’ve said to [Hogg], if you want to challenge incumbents, you’re more than free to do that, but just not as an officer of the DNC. This is not about shielding incumbents or boosting challengers. It’s about voters’ trust in the party.”

The controversy highlights the Democrats’ ongoing struggle to maintain unity, with Hogg’s actions fueling perceptions of a party adrift and beholden to radical voices. Last month, DNC officials circulated a “neutrality policy” urging leaders to avoid actions that could undermine impartiality, but Hogg pointedly refused to sign it.

In response, Martin proposed rule changes requiring DNC officers to remain neutral in primaries, a measure set for a vote in August that could force Hogg to choose between his party role and his rogue crusade.

Hogg’s Defiance Deepens Democratic Dysfunction

Unfazed, Hogg dismissed the backlash, claiming the DNC is trying to “change the rules because I’m not currently breaking them.” In a statement to the New York Post, he doubled down: “We all must use whatever position of power we have to fight back. And that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

Hogg insisted his actions align with the DNC’s mission, arguing, “The role of the DNC is to set the Presidential primary calendar, set the Presidential debate schedule, to help strengthen our state parties, play a key role in building our data infrastructure for the party, and to be the campaign in waiting for whoever the next Democratic nominee is. Nothing I’m doing is at odds with any of that.”

On X, Hogg took a swipe at party leadership, writing, “Everyone in our party says they want to start winning again, and they do — but that simply will not be possible with our current set of leaders, too many of which are asleep at the wheel, out-of-touch, and ineffective.”

While Hogg has yet to name his targets, his rhetoric underscores the Democrats’ vulnerability—a party grappling with internal rebellion and a failure to project strength ahead of critical elections.

As Martin and others push to rein in Hogg’s overreach, the episode lays bare a deeper malaise: a Democratic establishment struggling to control its own ranks while projecting an image of disarray to voters.
