All eyes are on Israel and Hamas. Many are worried we could be dragged into another conflict in the Middle East.
And this White House advisor spills the beans on Biden’s war plans.
On this week’s Fox News Sunday, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby warned that U.S. forces might be deployed on the ground to release captives caught up in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Anchor Shannon Bream said, “Senator Tom Cotton has said special operations forces should be there. They have an obligation to get Americans out, especially those we think are being held hostage. Would we have U.S. boots on the ground for that?”
Kirby said, “There’s no plans or intentions to put U.S. troops on the ground to fight in this fight between Israel and Hamas.”
Bream said, “But to retrieve Americans?”
Kirby said, “We are actively trying to find out exactly where they are. I mean, Shannon, we don’t even know how many exactly. We have a small handful. We know there could be more than we know that could be in different groups. It could be moved around.”
“We are going to be careful about what we say publicly about our efforts to get those hostages home. Secretary Blinken is in the region right now traveling around. I can tell you this is high on his agenda. We’re working on this literally by the hour.”
Bream said, “Would you absolutely rule out the possibility of any kind of U.S. forces being on the ground there?”
Kirby went on to say, “What I won’t do is rule anything in or out when it comes to getting our hostages home.”
He went on to say, “We’re working on this literally by the hour but again, in order for you to develop specific policy options, you got to have a lot more contextual information than is available to use right now and we’re working at that.”
Unfortunately, this feels like just another step down the stairs to war.
At first it was calls for peace. Not we’re talking about sending troops in for hostages only.
When will we be hit with calls for war with Hamas and even Iran?
Well, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is adamant that we should escalate this war even beyond Israel and Hamas:
The only way you're going to keep this war from escalating is to hold Hamas and Iran accountable.

To him, we should bomb Iran if an Israeli hostage dies.
Look, this whole thing is tragic. But “war is hell” as American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman famously said.
And to throw around the idea of dragging hundreds of thousands of American men and women into a prolonged state of bloodshed without really thinking about it is a fool’s game.
But what else would we expect from a 68 year-old childless Senator who knows he and no one he loves would be cast into harms way?
