Mamdani and Trump are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. But that doesn’t mean they don’t communicate with each other.
And Zohran Mamdani was caught sending these messages to President Trump.
New York City’s socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani and President Donald Trump are swapping friendly texts like old pals, firing off messages at least twice a week.
This odd-couple bond between a far-left leader and a Republican president is heating up, according to the New York Post.
The chats kicked off after their surprisingly warm White House sit-down back in November, with the two diving into everything from ousting Venezuela’s tyrant Nicolas Maduro to bureaucratic nightmares choking New York real estate, per sources.
Those close to the exchanges paint a picture of “friendly” texts between the two politicians.
One political insider put it bluntly: “It wouldn’t make practical, political sense for them to scream at each other — in public or private.”
“Of course, they can’t appear too cozy,” they added.
This direct line between Mamdani and Trump stands out as a real game-changer compared to how past presidents dealt with NYC mayors.
Take Mamdani’s predecessor, Eric Adams—he bent over backward to buddy up with Trump, even jetting to D.C. in the dead of night for the inauguration, but still had to go through middlemen to get a word in.
Now, with Mamdani in the mix, it’s personal and frequent, showing Trump’s willingness to bridge divides when it suits America’s interests.
Andrew Kirtzman, the sharp mind behind strategic communications firm KSX, calls it flat-out “remarkable that Trump feels so comfortable with [Mamdani].”
Kirtzman also noted Trump’s past beefs:
“He hated (Bill) de Blasio, the last left-wing mayor, and probably felt estranged from the city because of it.”
But with Mamdani? “He seems to feel an emotional connection with Mamdani. The mayor must be totally amazed by what’s happening.”
This alliance flips the script on the usual left-right warfare, proving that even a socialist like Mamdani likely sees the value in teaming up with a leader who’s all about making deals and putting America first.
It’s a reminder that real presidential leadership transcends labels, especially when facing down enemies abroad or bureaucracy at home.
