Donald Trump dumbfounded by this Biden-Harris announcement

Former President Trump has his eyes set on the White House. But the White House is up to something.

And Donald Trump is utterly dumbfounded by this Biden-Harris announcement.

Earlier this year, President Joe Biden said that he has done all he could to stem illegal immigration and help prevent the U.S. southern border crisis from worsening. That was clearly not true because in June, when his campaign was floundering, he implemented a series of executive orders to make it look like he was lifting a finger on the illegal immigration crisis.

Now, with immigration being a major pain point for Democrats like Kamala Harris trying to win an election, the Biden-Harris administration is reportedly trying to make their executive orders even stronger. While reports are that these orders have helped to some degree, critics point out that illegal immigration is still far higher than it was five to six years ago and that it simply sweeps the core issues under the rug.

The Biden administration is reportedly preparing to make more permanent changes to an executive order that imposed strict restrictions on asylum claims at the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to CBS News sources, the White House is expected to introduce modifications to an existing executive order, which will make it significantly more difficult for the asylum restrictions to be lifted. This executive order, first issued by President Joe Biden over the summer, has already led to a marked reduction in illegal border crossings along the southern border.

Facing a surge in illegal border crossings and amid a struggling presidential campaign, Biden issued a presidential proclamation in June aimed at reducing the daily number of illegal crossings. The order temporarily suspended the entry of foreign nationals at the border after the average number of daily encounters exceeded 2,500 over a week, as per the administration’s statement. The measure was intended to remain in place until the seven-day average of encounters dropped below 1,500 for two consecutive weeks.

The executive order, based on the authority provided by sections 212(f) and 215(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, enabled Border Patrol agents and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials to swiftly remove individuals who lacked a legal right to remain in the U.S.

Since the order took effect, illegal border encounters have significantly declined each month, according to the latest CBP data. This development has offered some relief to the Biden administration, which has faced ongoing criticism over the high levels of illegal immigration since taking office.

Now, the administration is reportedly planning to increase the threshold for lifting the partial asylum ban, making it even more difficult for federal officials to rescind the order. Under the proposed changes, asylum restrictions would only be deactivated if the seven-day average of encounters stays below 1,500 for a full 28 days, according to CBS News.

“July and August saw the lowest encounter levels since September 2020,” White House spokesperson Angelo Fernández Hernández told CBS News. “The Biden-Harris Administration has taken effective action, while Republican officials continue showing that they are more interested in cynically playing politics than securing the border.”

Although illegal border crossings have decreased, critics argue that the administration is masking the true nature of the problem by creating legal avenues for foreign nationals to enter the U.S. on a large scale. The administration recently pointed to a 50% reduction in border encounters between ports of entry as a result of the executive order. However, it also noted that over half a million foreign nationals have been flown into the U.S. under a mass parole program, and nearly a million others have scheduled appointments with the government to seek entry.

According to a CBP press release, approximately 530,000 individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela have been flown into the U.S. and granted parole under the Biden-Harris administration’s CHNV program. Additionally, around 813,000 migrants have booked appointments through the CBP One app since its launch in January 2023.

“These schemes only serve to hide the crisis in plain sight and increase the number of inadmissible aliens who are released into our communities with insufficient vetting and screening,” said House Homeland Committee Chairman Mark Green earlier this month.

The congressman had previously criticized both initiatives, describing them as a “massive shell game” that allows otherwise inadmissible individuals to lawfully enter the U.S. without crossing the border illegally.

On immigration, Kamala Harris is severely underwater compared to her general election season opponent Donald Trump. Most surveys show that Donald Trump has a double-digit lead on trust from the average American voter on immigration over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Surely her past comments (which she’s desperate to distance herself from) about wanting to basically give illegal immigrants a completely free lifestyle here in the United States doesn’t help her case at all.

She has said just a few short years ago that she absolutely supports healthcare for all individuals residing in the United States, not just United States citizens.
