“Earlier this month, our Camilo Montoya-Galvez reported that roughly half of those in custody have no criminal charges or convictions on their record,” Brennan added. According to her, they’re “being held solely because of alleged civil violations of immigration law … 48% of current detainees lack criminal charges or convictions.”
Brennan even claimed the number of these so-called “non-criminal detainees” has skyrocketed more than 2,000% since Trump reclaimed the White House.
To pile on, she tossed in polling numbers showing President Trump behind on immigration approval—45% approve, 55% disapprove.
Not ones to let fake news slide, the Department of Homeland Security fired back swiftly on X, dismantling Brennan’s claims with hard truths:
“WRONG. ~ 70% of illegal aliens arrested have pending criminal charges or criminal convictions. Does CBS really want us to release accused m*rderers and r*pists back on the streets?” the DHS said in their post.
They didn’t miss a beat, adding, “But @FaceTheNation is right about one thing: our deportation operations are at a RECORD HIGH.”
