And Trump is utterly flabbergasted by this ridiculous stunt Joe Biden just tried to pull.
For years, Americans have watched the illegal immigration issue get completely ignored by the Joe Biden administration. In fact, just in January, Joe Biden himself claimed that he had done “all he could do” on illegal immigration, essentially washing his hands like Pontius Pilate. Meanwhile, drugs are still pouring over our borders, violent criminals continue to devastate our southern cities, and the border crisis is even starting to bring violence to the northern states and the midwest.
When May and June rolled around, Joe Biden thought to himself it might be time to at least pretend like he cares about the illegal immigration issue. It is an election year after all. That made him sign a series of executive orders that were designed to help decrease the total volume of illegal immigrants trying to cross the border. The reality though, is that it hasn’t been all that helpful.

That’s bad enough, but now Joe Biden is even trying to take credit for the work that the Trump administration put in by claiming that his illegal immigration numbers are better than at “any time” during the entire Trump administration. It’s such a laughable claim, it’s almost unbelievable, but it’s true.
Biden’s Claims on Border Crossings Disputed by Data
In a recent interview with Speedy Mormon, host of the youth culture news outlet Complex, President Joe Biden asserted that border crossings are at their lowest point compared to any time during the Trump administration. However, a review of border data reveals that this claim is not accurate.
During the interview, Biden highlighted the effects of an executive order he issued in June aimed at reducing illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border. “Guess what? The number of people seeking to come into the country is down lower than it was at any time when [Donald Trump] was president,” Biden stated.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data contradicts this assertion. Although encounters with migrants between ports of entry are at their lowest since Biden took office, they are not lower than any time during Trump’s presidency. In June, there were 83,536 Border Patrol encounters with migrants between ports of entry, the standard measure for illegal border crossings.
The executive order Biden issued on June 4 limits the acceptance of asylum seekers when daily crossings reach a certain threshold. Following this order, the Biden administration claimed in a press release that June’s encounters were 29% lower than in May 2024, marking the lowest monthly total since January 2021. The administration also noted that June 2024 encounters were lower than those in June 2019, the last comparable pre-pandemic year.
This statement is accurate: January 2021, the last month of Trump’s presidency, saw fewer than 76,000 illegal crossings. Since then, monthly crossings have not fallen below 83,000. However, except for a few months in fiscal year 2019, nearly every month under Trump had fewer encounters than June 2024, according to CBP data.
It remains unclear whether Biden intended to claim that current numbers are the lowest since Trump left office or that they are lower than at any time during Trump’s presidency. The White House has not responded to a request for clarification from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Despite the decrease in illegal border crossings since the executive order, June’s data shows that the administration continues to admit foreign nationals at official ports of entry at nearly the same rate. Over 117,000 migrant encounters were recorded at ports of entry in June, comparable to the 119,000 encounters in May and the record 121,696 in August 2023.

Donald Trump and his Republican allies are, intelligently, making sure they don’t let Democrats get away with making any obviously false claims about how they’ve improved border security and that Americans are safer today than they were under the Trump administration.

During the RNC, some of the most deafening applause and roars from the crowd came when Donald Trump was harping on the illegal immigration issue and explaining how his second term will go back to implementing the policies that were effective for him during his first term.
