Donald Trump isn’t going to let the mistakes of his first term dictate this one. He knows better.
And now Trump unveiled a stunning plan to dole out justice on day one.
President-elect Donald Trump reaffirmed his commitment to securing America’s borders and restoring law and order, announcing plans to deport as many illegal aliens as possible — starting with criminals — the moment he takes office next month.
In a Sunday interview with NBC News’ Kristen Welker on Meet The Press, Trump made it clear that his administration will prioritize protecting law-abiding citizens and enforcing immigration laws.
“I think you have to do it,” Trump said when asked about his plan to address illegal immigration over the next four years.
“It’s a very tough thing to do.”
Trump emphasized the importance of fairness and the rule of law, contrasting the plight of those waiting patiently to enter the U.S. legally with those who broke the law to get here.
“They came in illegally. You know, the people that have been treated very unfairly are the people that have been on line for ten years to come into the country. And we’re going to make it very easy for people to come in, in terms of they have to pass the test.”
Trump also issued a firm warning to criminals and gang members, promising they will face swift action.
“We have to get the criminals out of our country,” he said.
“We have to get people that were taken out of mental institutions and put them back into their mental institution no matter what country it is.”
He highlighted his focus on targeting violent gangs, such as MS-13 and Venezuelan criminal organizations, calling them “the worst in the world.”
He added, “They’re vicious, violent people. And you’ve seen what they’ve done in Colorado and other places. They’re taking over, they’re literally taking over apartment complexes and doing it with impunity.”
When asked about the logistical challenges of mass deportations, Trump didn’t flinch. He underscored the economic and social burden illegal immigration places on the nation:
“First of all, they’re costing us a fortune,” he said.
“But we’re starting with the criminals and we’ve got to do it. And then we’re starting with others and we’re going to see how it goes.”
“Is it your plan to deport everyone who is here illegally over the next four years?”
