In the latest episode of Democratic deflection, Rep. Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania appeared on CNN and delivered a masterclass in political spin.
While insisting her fire isn’t aimed squarely at President Trump himself, she made it crystal clear what really keeps her up at night: the bold policies and unapologetic leadership shaking up Washington.
The Pennsylvania representative tried to thread the needle, claiming her opposition runs deeper than any one man.
Yet her words painted a familiar picture of elite resistance to any challenge against the status quo.
“I think Donald Trump has made the case all by himself, and by the people he has infected. So, I’m not so much against Mr. Trump. I’m against the things he has done and those who have enabled it,” Dean stated.
Dean went on to blast the state of the economy under Trump’s watch, citing personal struggles at the pump and rising costs for average families.
She pinned it all on presidential decisions involving trade, conflict, and border security.
The congresswoman complained about filling her tank and everyday expenses, ignoring how Trump’s approach prioritizes domestic production and fair trade deals that protect American manufacturing.
Tariffs aren’t reckless—they’re tools to stop the bleeding of jobs overseas that gutted communities across the heartland.
“Look at where we are, the economy is in the tank. I filled up, — speaking of tank, I filled up yesterday, it cost almost $100 to fill up my car, and I bought the cash price to save $0.08 a gallon. Just insane where we are in this economy, the cost of living for everybody is up,” Dean continued.
“And this is entirely of the president’s making, whether it’s tariffs or war or a ruthless immigration policy, the economy is in a very bad place by the president’s making.”
This attack on immigration enforcement stands out. “Ruthless” is how establishment figures describe any effort to stop illegal crossings that strain public services, depress wages for working-class Americans, and compromise security.
Trump’s policies deliver results where previous administrations offered excuses.
