The Left is doing all they can to transform this country. But not every Republican is ready to roll over.
And Lindsey Graham sent a warning shot straight at Democrats in Congress.
This nation has been overrun by millions upon millions of illegal immigrants.
The greatest danger is that the women who come here have children and then can legally claim citizenship.
Of course, the Left wants a pathway for them all, but they have to pass that first.
In response to the overwhelming surge of illegal immigration under Democratic leadership, Sen. Lindsey Graham stepped up on Wednesday with bold new legislation aimed at putting an end to one of the most exploited loopholes in U.S. immigration law — birthright citizenship.
The South Carolina Republican’s proposal would ensure that children born to illegal immigrants, as well as those born to legal but temporary visitors, would no longer receive automatic U.S. citizenship simply by being born on American soil.
This initiative takes direct aim at “birth tourism,” where pregnant women enter the U.S. with the sole intention of giving birth to a future citizen.
“It is long overdue for the United States to change its policy on birthright citizenship because it is being abused in so many ways,” Graham declared, cutting through the Democratic silence on the issue.
The U.S. is one of the few major nations to still offer automatic citizenship to virtually anyone born within its borders.
While many scholars argue this policy is cemented by the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, there is a growing acknowledgment — even among legal experts — that the language leaves room for Congress to take action.
The amendment grants citizenship to those born in the U.S. and “subject to the jurisdiction” of the country, a phrase Graham’s legislation seeks to properly define.
By specifying that children of illegal immigrants and temporary visa holders do not fall under U.S. jurisdiction, Graham’s proposal directly challenges Democrats who have allowed this abuse of the system to continue unchecked.
His legislation would apply moving forward and would not affect those who have already been granted citizenship.
This isn’t the first time the issue of birthright citizenship has been put on the table.
Former President Donald Trump, during his time in office, expressed a desire to curb the practice and has once again pledged to address it in his current presidential campaign.
Lindsey Graham’s legislation represents a much-needed step toward restoring order and fairness to the immigration system — a move that Democrats have resisted for too long.
By pushing this issue to the forefront, Graham is sending a clear message: America’s immigration laws will no longer be abused for political gain.
