Big-time celebrity reveals potential challenge against Zohran Mamdani

Mamdani is a socialist. His policies are set to destroy New York City.

And a big-time celebrity revealed a potential challenge against Zohran Mamdani.

Dave Portnoy, the no-nonsense founder of Barstool Sports, just dropped a bombshell that has everyday New Yorkers buzzing. After watching the latest wave of radical left victories sweep through the city, the straight-talking entrepreneur is openly weighing a run for mayor against Zohran Mamdani.

The moment came during an appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime, where the Fox News host ripped into Mamdani and his allies.

Portnoy, who built a massive media empire connecting with regular working folks, admitted the chaos in New York has him rethinking his long-standing aversion to politics.

“So I’ve always thought I would never get involved in politics, but I think you can do more in the private sector,” he explained. Yet the current mess has forced him to pause that stance entirely.

He invoked an old Plato warning about the dangers of good men staying on the sidelines:

“I was saying to you that old Plato quote, if you don’t do your public service and run for office, you’re doomed to be run by basically dummies. And right now I feel like that’s what’s happening.”

Portnoy didn’t mince words about the state of the city he loves. He called it “a scary time” to reside in New York and said he feels a personal duty to act.

“I can’t turn away. I feel like I could make a change, maybe a do run in politics. So I don’t know,” he stated.

When Watters directly asked if he might challenge Mamdani, Portnoy confirmed the logic: “If I was going to run, it would be here.”

He openly wondered about his chances, noting the tricky demographics but pointing to his deep roots in the city.

“There’s a lot of people who like me in New York City. I know that. I’ve done a lot of good in New York City when I wasn’t thinking about politics, whether it was the Barstool Fund, pizza places,” Portnoy said.

What sets Portnoy apart from the typical suit in politics is his genuine experience in the real world.

He built Barstool from the ground up, dealing with actual customers, employees, and challenges that most career politicians never face.
