Former Vice President Kamala Harris has revealed that she is endorsing Democrat Michigan Senate candidate, Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.
The endorsement arrives as Democrats scramble to hold and expand their Senate map ahead of November.
Harris, still carrying the weight of her own landslide defeat, has chosen to throw her remaining political capital behind El-Sayed in a state that has punished national Democrats in recent cycles.
“Dr. Abdul El-Sayed understands that the power is with the people, and that the stakes couldn’t be higher in this election,” Harris stated.
That line is pure campaign boilerplate. Power with the people has long been a favorite Democrat slogan even as party leaders in Washington and state capitals pursue policies that raise costs, expand bureaucracy, and erode local control. Michigan voters have heard versions of it before.
Harris then pivoted to the standard attack on Republicans.
“While Michiganders struggle to afford everyday essentials — housing, gas, groceries, health care, and child care — Trump and Republicans in Congress are giving away $1 trillion in tax breaks to the wealthy and powerful,” she continued.
The claim ignores the record. Working families in Michigan and across the country saw energy prices, grocery bills, and housing costs climb sharply during the Biden-Harris years.
Tax policy that leaves more money in the hands of businesses and wage earners is not a giveaway; it is the opposite of the progressive preference for higher rates, more credits, and greater federal redistribution.
“Abdul knows that we need bold solutions to the crises facing America’s working families, and he is ready to take on this fight. I proudly stand with him to ensure we win a Democratic Senate majority in November,” Harris said.
Bold solutions from the left usually mean more government programs, higher spending, and tighter regulation.
Michigan families already living with the results of those approaches may not share Harris’s enthusiasm.
El-Sayed’s own record and platform will now face greater scrutiny precisely because of this high-profile blessing.
