Donald Trump isn’t getting distracted. He wants to deliver for the American people.
And President Trump just proclaimed a massive victory in a hot new announcement.
Trump Touts Economic Wins, Addresses Musk Feud
President Donald Trump took to social media and public platforms Friday to highlight his administration’s economic achievements, steering attention toward what he describes as a thriving America. His comments come amid a public dispute with Elon Musk, his former ally and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The two have recently had a falling out of sorts, with both of them trading jabs and zingers online.
On Truth Social, Trump posted, “Prices are down, income is up, our Border is closed, gasoline is CHEAP, inflation is DEAD — Our Country is BOOMING! Companies are pouring into America like never before.” The statement emphasized a robust economy, with businesses flocking to the U.S. and key metrics like gas prices and inflation showing improvement under his leadership.
An hour later, Trump doubled down, writing, “AMERICA IS HOT! SIX MONTHS AGO IT WAS COLD AS ICE! BORDER IS CLOSED, PRICES ARE DOWN. WAGES ARE UP!” The posts reflect his administration’s narrative of a dramatic turnaround, contrasting the current state of the nation with conditions before his return to office.
The remarks follow a week of tension with Musk, who supported Trump’s 2024 campaign and briefly served in his administration. The rift became public Thursday when Musk criticized the budget reconciliation package, dubbed the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which the House passed and sent to the Senate. Musk’s departure from DOGE and his vocal opposition to the bill have fueled a back-and-forth with the president.
In interviews with ABC News and CNN on Friday, Trump addressed the feud directly, stating he was not focused on reconciling with Musk. “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore,” Trump said, expressing disappointment over Musk’s shift in stance. He noted that Musk was well-informed about the bill’s details, saying, “Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody and he had no problem with it” until after leaving his role.
The budget reconciliation package, a cornerstone of Trump’s legislative agenda, has drawn scrutiny for its revocation of electric vehicle mandates, which Trump suggested was a key point of contention for Musk. “He’s upset because we took away the EV mandate,” Trump remarked, defending the bill as “one of the greatest bills ever presented to Congress.” He also revealed rejecting Musk’s nominee to lead NASA, a decision that may have further strained their relationship.
Trump’s comments on the bill came during a state visit by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday, where he fielded questions about Musk’s criticism. The president vowed to address concerns, posting on Truth Social that he would “fix” any issues with the legislation to ensure its success. His administration has framed the bill as a critical step toward streamlining government and boosting economic growth.
Musk, meanwhile, escalated the dispute with a series of posts on X, including a claim that Trump’s name appears in the Jeffrey Epstein files, stating, “that is the real reason they have not been made public.” The provocative comment added fuel to the ongoing public spat between the two.
In another post, Musk briefly threatened to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, a move that would have significant implications for U.S. space exploration. He quickly retracted the statement, but it highlighted the intensity of the disagreement with Trump.
As Trump continues to champion his administration’s economic record and legislative priorities, the feud with Musk remains a high-profile distraction. His focus on falling prices, rising wages, and a secured border reflects a commitment to delivering results, even as personal and political tensions with his former ally play out in the public eye.
Trump Considers Ditching Tesla After Falling Out with Musk
President Donald Trump is contemplating parting ways with his red Tesla Model S, a vehicle he purchased in March to support Elon Musk’s company amid public criticism. A senior White House official shared this development with NBC News, noting the decision comes after a public rift between Trump and Musk.
The president’s purchase of the electric car was a gesture of solidarity with Tesla. Musk, Tesla’s CEO, faced backlash from some customers and critics for his role in the administration’s DOGE initiative, aimed at reducing government spending and workforce. Tesla vehicles and facilities had also been targeted in attacks around that time.
Tensions escalated Thursday when Musk publicly criticized a major tax bill Trump is pushing for Congress to pass. The president responded by calling Musk “crazy” and threatening to terminate federal contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX.
No final decision has been made about the Tesla’s fate, according to the White House official. The car currently sits parked outside the White House. Last week, Margo Martin, a special assistant to Trump, shared a photo of herself and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posing inside the Tesla.
