New York City Mayor: “Cancel me. I’m For America” When Asked About Switch To GOP
In a series of interviews on Friday morning, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, suggested the possibility of switching his political allegiance to the Republican Party. Although Adams has previously been a member of the GOP, serving from 1995 to 2002, he did not rule out a return to the party. When asked during an appearance on NY1 if he would rejoin the Republican Party, Adams responded ambiguously, saying, “I’m a part of the American party. I love this country.”
In a follow-up interview on PIX11, Adams reiterated his position, emphasizing that regardless of his political party, he would continue to advocate for American values. “No matter what party I’m on or vote on, I’m going to push for American values,” he said. The mayor also stressed the importance of transcending partisan divides, urging politicians to work together to address the problems faced by voters.
Adams’ comments come after a presidential race where, unlike many of his Democratic peers, he avoided openly criticizing President-elect Donald Trump. Additionally, since Trump’s election to the presidency, Adams has been notably positive about Elon Musk, a Trump confidant who has been tasked with improving government efficiency.

Next week, the mayor is scheduled to meet with Tom Homan, the incoming border czar, to discuss plans for the deportation of undocumented immigrants. Adams has previously stated that he would support any federal efforts focusing on deporting undocumented immigrants who have committed serious crimes.
Adams’ comments have drawn criticism from local Democrats, particularly due to his apparent openness to Trump, a figure who will play a significant role in the outcome of the five-count criminal case Adams faces in federal court. Trump has already chosen a nominee to replace the U.S. Attorney overseeing Adams’ case, and there is speculation that Trump might intervene to assist Adams, potentially even offering a pardon.
Both Adams and Trump have portrayed the criminal charges against them as politically motivated, echoing a sentiment recently reinforced by President Joe Biden, who criticized the justice system when he pardoned his son, Hunter Biden. Trump has expressed empathy for Adams’ situation.
When asked on Friday if he would run for reelection next year as a Democrat, Adams responded with a straightforward answer. “That is what I’m proposing to do,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to the Democratic Party despite the speculation. He added, “I’ve been a Democrat for many years and I’m going to run for my reelection as a Democrat.”
In closing, Adams issued a defiant statement to his critics: “Those who don’t like it, they will cancel me,” he said. “I say: Cancel me. I’m for America.”

Democrats Unable To Stop The Mass Exodus Bleeding
There’s been an unmistakable trend over the past several years of disaffected Democrats and “classical liberals” who are so fed up with how insane the Democrat Party has become that they are leaving the Party entirely. In some cases, they even realign with the Republican Party instead.
Tulsi Gabbard was a Democrat candidate for President in the 2020 elections, and she was considered a top dark horse candidate who could pull off an interesting “come out of nowhere” win. In fact, she almost single-handedly destroyed the Kamala Harris campaign that cycle when she exposed Harris as an establishment crony in the debates. Gabbard was a real force to be reckoned with, even though she didn’t win the Democrat nomination that year.
Today, Tulsi Gabbard has made a full 180-degree turn and she’s set up to potentially be confirmed for a top position in the second Trump administration as Director of National Intelligence. There’s plenty of other Democrats who have followed in her footsteps to say ‘enough is enough’ and leave the Party entirely. Whether Eric Adams will do the same remains to be seen, but he certainly seems closer than ever.
