The Trump administration has never been on good terms with the media. But now it’s getting real.
Because the White House announced plans to silence mainstream media liars.
White House Rolls Out Public Tip Line to Combat Media Bias
The Trump White House on Tuesday launched a “Media Bias Offender Tip Line,” inviting Americans to submit news stories they believe contain misleading or biased coverage of the administration, as part of an expanded effort to hold legacy media accountable.
Portal Seeks Public Help to Expose “Fake News”
A new section on WhiteHouse.gov titled “A CALL TO ACTION: Submit ‘Media Bias’ Tips” explains the initiative builds on last week’s “Media Bias Portal,” which catalogs examples of what the administration labels distorted reporting.
“The White House recently launched a Media Bias Portal as a service to truth and transparency,” the site states.
“Its purpose is to combat the baseless lies, purposely omitted context, and outright left-wing lunacy of the Fake News Media — a tall task that demands the help of everyone who believes in facts and accuracy over Fake News.”
Officials note that “so-called ‘journalists’ have made it impossible to identify every false or misleading story,” making public submissions “essential.”
“The days of the Fake News Media controlling the narrative with lies, fake anonymous sources, and willful bias are over,” the announcement continues.
“If the legacy media won’t honor their responsibility to accurately inform the public, we know the American people will.”
Site Already Highlights Major Outlets for “Misleading” Coverage
The existing portal, rebranded from “Media Offender of the Week,” prominently features CBS News, The Independent, and The Boston Globe, accusing them of falsely claiming President Trump called for the “execution” of lawmakers who urged troops to refuse illegal orders.
An “Offender Hall of Shame” lists repeat entries including CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), The Washington Post, and CBS News again. Stories are tagged with categories such as “Bias,” “Lie,” “Malpractice,” and “Left-wing Lunacy.”
Administration officials describe the crowd-sourced approach as a transparency tool that empowers citizens to push back against perceived partisan reporting in real time.
