ICE came under a concerning attack with huge ramifications

America’s law enforcement needs to be able to do their jobs. But not everyone wants them to.

Now ICE came under a concerning attack with huge ramifications.

Rhode Island Democrat Lawmaker Hurls Profane Threat at ICE, Escalating Pattern of Inflammatory Rhetoric

A Rhode Island state lawmaker who has repeatedly branded federal immigration officers “N-zi Gestapo thugs” escalated his rhetoric this week with a profanity-laced threat against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, warning agents that their “day of reckoning will come.”

Democrat Lawmaker’s History of Inflammatory Attacks on ICE

State Rep. Enrique Sanchez, a Democrat, directed his anger at ICE in a Wednesday post on X decrying the agency’s enforcement tactics:

“Fighting and dealing with ICE since last year has f—– me up in the head after trying to protect and defend hundreds and hundreds of our community members in Providence and across Rhode Island. Your day of reckoning will come mother——,” he wrote. “I swear to god.”

The post is only the latest in a string of incendiary attacks Sanchez has leveled at the agency. In August 2025, he called ICE officers “N-zi Gestapo thugs” who “kidnapped another of our neighbors” in Providence, adding, “The ICE thugs damaged a couple cars that belonged to residents as well. They think they are above the law.”

Two weeks later, Sanchez said ICE was “terrorizing” communities before calling for “a day of reckoning and no going back.” More recently, he lambasted “N-zi ICE trash thugs” after an ICE agent shot and k*lled a Colombian man in Maine.

Lawmaker Works Directly With Illegal Immigrants in State Role

Sanchez, who was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in 2022, works as a case manager helping illegal immigrants, according to his official biography on the state House website — a role that places him directly at odds with the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration enforcement crackdown.

The incident Sanchez referenced in his most recent post involved Joan Sebastian Guerrero, 26, who was shot and k*lled July 13 during an attempted traffic stop in Biddeford, Maine, after authorities said he tried to flee. An eyewitness told the Portland Press Herald that Guerrero appeared to drive toward federal agents before shots were fired.

Rhetoric Comes Amid Broader Democratic Tensions Over Immigration Enforcement

Sanchez’s comments arrive as Democratic officials across the country continue to clash publicly with the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations, with some lawmakers facing criticism from within their own party over the tone and substance of their attacks on federal agents carrying out deportation orders.
