Bernie Sanders went on NBC and completely betrayed Kamala Harris

The Left needs to stick together if they want to beat Trump in November. But they’re starting to turn on each other.

And Bernie Sanders went on NBC and completely betrayed Kamala Harris.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described Democratic Socialist, came to the defense of Vice President Kamala Harris, downplaying concerns that she’s lurched too far Left in the past, calling her inconsistency “pragmatic.”

But Sanders and his ilk call of pragmatism looks more like political shape-shifting, as Harris desperately tries to mold herself into whatever will get her the most votes.

Sanders claimed Harris has been “doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election.” So, is this what the Democrats think is leadership — abandoning core beliefs just to get by?

“No, I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s trying to be pragmatic,” Sanders told NBC’s Meet the Press, trying to shield Harris from rightful criticism.

While Sanders attempts to paint Harris as a flexible politician, it’s hard to ignore her chronic flip-flopping. Just last month, Harris was quick to defend her reversals on policy, telling CNN that her “values have not changed.”

But actions speak louder than words, and Harris has shifted positions on everything from banning plastic straws to fracking — a convenient switch needed to woo voters in Pennsylvania.

It doesn’t stop there. She’s also backtracked on key progressive goals like Medicare for all, mandatory gun buybacks, decriminalizing illegal border crossings, and a federal jobs guarantee.

These changes reveal a politician who is more interested in political survival than sticking to any real principles.

Back in 2019, Govtrack ranked Harris as the most liberal senator — more radical than Sanders himself.

Yet, now she’s trying to inch toward the center, unveiling a tax policy far more moderate than what Biden, her boss, is pushing.

Harris wants to cap the top rate on long-term capital gains at 28% for millionaires — significantly lower than the 44.6% hike in Biden’s fiscal 2025 budget that she previously supported.

If she can’t even stay consistent with her own administration’s policies, what can the American people expect?

Sanders, ever the staunch progressive, still maintains that Harris is “progressive,” citing her support for initiatives like the child tax credit and affordable housing.

But even Sanders admits they differ significantly on policy, notably in healthcare.

Sanders supports Medicare for all, while Harris has proposed a more watered-down approach to health care reform, avoiding the bold leadership America needs.

In the end, Harris’s record shows a politician without true conviction, drifting wherever the political winds take her, all while Democrats continue to insist she’s still the progressive voice they need.

It’s time to ask: What does Harris actually stand for, and will she ever stop trying to have it both ways?
