Politics can get testy at times. But this crosses the line.
As chaos erupts at a House hearing after Leftist and GOP congressmen trade punches.
A fiery showdown unfolded during a House Oversight Committee hearing on Tuesday, spotlighting sharp divisions as Chairman James Comer threatened to eject Rep. Maxwell Frost after the Florida Democrat defied a speaking ban sparked by his sharp-tongued critique of President Donald Trump.
The drama kicked off when Frost took the floor and didn’t hold back, labeling Trump the “grifter in chief.” His comments ignited a verbal brawl, prompting Comer to clamp down on Frost’s participation for breaching the committee’s standards of decorum.
“So if we wanna look at waste, fraud, and abuse — which I’m down to do — why is there complete silence on the other side of the aisle about looking at the complete grifter that is the President of the United States and the richest man on the Earth,” Frost said, adding, “Why don’t we investigate the real corruption?”
The jab at Trump drew an immediate objection from Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana. Comer stepped in, pressing Frost to soften his words and avoid what he called an “improper” reference to the president. Frost, however, doubled down, launching into another salvo against “grifter in chief Trump.”
Chaos escalated as Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina jumped in with a cryptic outburst: “If I wanted to challenge someone to a fight, they would know it!” — leaving onlookers puzzled about her intent.
Comer again urged Frost to revise his remarks to align with committee norms. Frost offered a half-hearted concession, noting, “It is supposed to be. President Musk and the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who is engaged in grifting of the American people often use their public offices to enrich themselves.”
With tensions boiling, Comer flagged a pending motion against Frost, who countered, “I will say the president is grifting because you spent the last two years saying President Biden was corrupt.”
He added, “What I will withdraw is calling him grifter in chief” — a retraction that failed to appease the chairman.
Frustrated, Comer ordered Frost’s words struck from the record and barred him from speaking further.
That decision sparked an uproar, with Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas leaping to Frost’s defense as lawmakers descended into a shouting match.
Comer eventually regained control, but not before cutting Frost’s microphone. Silenced but undeterred, Frost called the move “despicable,” prompting Comer to warn ranking member Gerry Connolly of Virginia: “Mr. Ranking Member, I am going to have the sergeant at arms remove him if he doesn’t refrain!”

Though Frost avoided being forcibly removed, the hearing left a bitter aftertaste.
Later, he took to X to vent his defiance: “James Comer can hide behind the Sergeant in Arms and try to have me removed, arrested, and silenced,” he wrote. “But that’s not going to stop me from calling out Donald Trump’s grift and his bulls—.”
The entire verbal brawl is a snapshot into how Congress constantly fails at getting things done. Instead of doing their job, Democrats like Frost are too busy breaking decorum rules in an effort to criticize President Donald Trump.
