Everyone knows Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is ineffective. He doesn’t even have respect from his own Party.
And Chuck Schumer is going to wet his pants when he hears what this U.S. Senator shared with the media.
The Democrat majority in the U.S. Senate is so razor thin, it may as well be non-existent.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has watched a number of Biden’s nominees for positions in the executive and judicial branches of government fizzle out because they simply don’t have the votes.
His time is now because in 2024, Democrats are defending double the seats that Republicans are defending in the U.S. Senate. All signs point to Republicans taking back the Senate as well that year.
One critical seat that is currently held by a Democrat comes from West Virginia.
Joe Manchin isn’t exactly a bastion for the radical Democrats like Schumer and he will actually sometimes contradict them legislatively and with his vote. But his seat does count towards the Democrat control for committee placements and rules.
Chuck Schumer almost certainly needs Joe Manchin to run again in 2024 and win to have any real chance of keeping his role has the Senate Leader.
It looks like that may not be the case, though.
Senator Joe Manchin recently went on Fox News and said that he has no plans to announce with regards to 2024 and that everything is on the table.
When asked about the possibility of running for a third-party, Manchin said that he is “not ruling anything in, not ruling anything out.”
He expanded on this saying that he wants to have a “plan B” available with regards to his Senate seat.
“You better have Plan B, because if Plan A shows that we’re going to the far reaches of both sides — the far left and the far right — and that people don’t want to go to the far left and the far right, they want to be governed from the middle,” Manchin said on Fox News.
Jim Justice, the former Republican Governor of West Virginia, has already announced his candidacy for the West Virginia Senate seat.
Certainly, Manchin would be in a tough race against Justice, who has a ton of popularity amongst conservatives in the state.
Manchin continued to imply that he’s considering a third party candidacy by doubling down on the “plan B” comments later in the interview with Fox News.
“I’m saying you better have Plan B ready, Shannon, because that’s what it’s going to take for this country to remain the superpower of the world and to give confidence to people around the world that the reserve currency should be the U.S. dollar,” he said.
“We can do that. You can’t do it from the extremes,” Manchin concluded.
Manchin may not be entirely right about Americans searching for a “less extreme” alternative in politics these days.
Polls show that Americans are increasingly dividing themselves on political and religious beliefs as every year passes.
It makes sense that conservatives who don’t want their kids to be exposed to radical Leftist “gender ideology” and “drag queen culture” would look for candidates who want to fight the Left tooth and nail.
It’s entirely possible that Joe Manchin can see the writing on the wall and he’s just trying to save his own appearance before the 2024 election flips his seat.
