In a recent appearance on CNN’s The Source, Virginia Democrat Senator Mark Warner let loose with some eyebrow-raising claims about President Donald Trump.
Warner suggested that Trump might be gearing up to meddle in future elections. This comes amid ongoing political battles over election security and oversight.
Warner didn’t hold back, tying Trump’s actions to what he sees as a threat to democracy. He pointed fingers at the Director of National Intelligence, claiming she’s out of bounds on domestic matters. But let’s be real – this sounds like more of the same anti-Trump hysteria we’ve heard since 2016.
Here’s what Warner said exactly: “In this case, as you pointed out, the Director of National Intelligence has absolutly nothing to do with domestic elections and a criminal domestic charge. And if there was any foreign interference, she’s already violated the law as well of not keeping her congressional oversight committees informed.”
“And I think what I fear, Kaitlan, is that here’s a guy that was obsessed about losing in 2020, obsessed about losing in Georgia and I believe they may be intending to interfere in our elections in 26 and 28. And I think we all have to step up our game, you know, take all of this, and then you add in the president saying he wants to federalize elections and have Republicans take control. This isn’t the way the system works.”
It’s classic Democrat playbook: accuse the other side of what you’re guilty of yourself. Warner’s rant ignores the mountains of evidence from conservatives about irregularities in 2020, while painting Trump as the villain obsessed with power.
Host Kaitlan Collins, no stranger to pushing left-leaning narratives, pressed Warner on the upcoming midterms. She asked if he’s concerned about White House or presidential interference in 2026.
Warner doubled down, admitting that just a year ago, he dismissed similar ideas as outlandish. Now, he’s all in on the panic mode, claiming protections from the first Trump administration have been torn down.
He said: “A year ago, when people brought these what I thought were wild theories that kind of said, you know, that’s a little farfetched. Now I’m worried the activities of what they did to dismantle many of the protections that were put in place, frankly, in Trump one, cybersecurity protections, the FBI had an active effort about protecting our elections they have been dismantled.”
This flip-flop from Warner is telling. One minute, theories are “wild,” the next, they’re plausible because they fit the anti-Trump agenda. It’s like the Russia collusion hoax all over again – endless accusations with zero proof.
Conservatives have long argued that real election interference comes from Big Tech censorship, mail-in ballot chaos, and Democrat-led changes to voting rules. Yet Warner focuses on imaginary Trump plots.
Think about it: Trump pushes for stronger voter ID laws and transparency, things that actually secure elections. Democrats like Warner cry foul when Republicans want to clean up the system.
The irony is thick. Warner talks about dismantling protections, but under Biden, we’ve seen the FBI target parents at school boards and raid political opponents. Who’s really interfering?
