The Democrats can’t catch a break. Their Party may officially be done for.
Especially after the House Speaker released this video that has Democrats utterly furious.
Recently, House Speaker Mike Johnson commemorated the first anniversary of President Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race by sharing a 14-minute video compilation. The video highlighted Democrats’ assertions that Biden was mentally sharp, despite concerns about his cognitive health.
Biden withdrew from his reelection bid on July 21, 2024, after a widely criticized debate performance on June 27, where he appeared disoriented, struggled to articulate thoughts, and froze at times. The video montage, however, showed Democrats repeatedly dismissing any concerns about Biden’s mental capacity.
“A year ago today, President Biden’s faltering debate performance derailed his reelection campaign and laid bare what may be the most significant political cover-up in U.S. history,” Johnson stated.
He emphasized that House Republicans are probing this issue to ensure accountability, asserting that Democrats and media outlets concealed the truth about the mental state of the nation’s leader. “This video is just a glimpse of the evidence,” he noted.
The compilation featured Democratic figures like Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell, former Biden campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu, former chief of staff Ron Klain, former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi, all claiming Biden was performing at his peak.
It also included Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren defending Biden’s sharpness during an April interview on Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso. “He was sharp. He was on his feet,” Warren stated. Several other Democrats echoed the term “sharp” to describe Biden’s mental state, as shown in the video.
The montage also captured Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet in May, struggling to address political analyst Mark Halperin’s question on Next Up With Mark Halperin about whether Biden’s decision to run again stemmed from cognitive decline.
“Well, I think that, again, I have not made a personal assessment, you know, at that time, certainly, of Joe Biden’s mental decline,” Bennet said. “I think he was not in a position to wage a vigorous campaign against [President Donald] Trump, whether it was mental or physical, and we paid a heavy price for his decision to run again.”
Additionally, former President Bill Clinton, appearing on CBS Sunday Morning in June, denied observing any cognitive decline in Biden. “I had never seen him and walked away thinking he can’t do this anymore,” Clinton said. “He was always on top of his brief.”
The video ended with Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett on Eye On Politics in May, admitting she would support Biden even if he were cognitively impaired. “If Joe Biden was like mentally deficient in some way and he was still able to keep this sucker on the tracks, then give me a mentally deficient Joe Biden any given day over Donald Trump,” Crockett said.
A February 2024 report by special counsel Robert Hur found Biden mishandled classified documents but recommended no charges, noting that jurors might view him as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
In May 2025, CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson published Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, alleging that Biden’s aides, cabinet members, and Democratic lawmakers obscured his declining health to support his 2024 campaign.

The controversy surrounding former President Joe Biden’s mental health during his presidency has gained significant attention, particularly following the release of Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson. Published on May 20, 2025, by Penguin Random House, the book draws on over 200 interviews with Democratic insiders, including White House staff, members of Congress, and donors, to argue that Biden’s decision to seek reelection despite evident physical and cognitive decline was a critical error that led to the Democratic Party’s 2024 election loss.
The authors assert that Biden’s inner circle, including key aides like Mike Donilon, Steve Ricchetti, Bruce Reed, Ron Klain, and family members such as Jill and Hunter Biden, actively concealed the extent of his deterioration, creating a “protective political cocoon” to maintain his candidacy.
The book details specific instances of Biden’s struggles, such as forgetting the names of long-time aides like Mike Donilon as early as 2019 and failing to recognize prominent figures like actor George Clooney at a 2024 fundraiser. These anecdotes highlight a pattern of cognitive lapses that became more pronounced after 2023, with aides reportedly limiting Biden’s public appearances and relying on teleprompters even at small events.
The authors describe a White House environment where dissent about Biden’s fitness was discouraged, and staffers were kept in the dark about the severity of his condition. For example, cabinet members reportedly went months without direct access to Biden, and discussions about using a wheelchair for a potential second term underscored concerns about his physical decline.
Tapper and Thompson argue that Biden’s decision to run again was driven by a belief that he was uniquely capable of defeating Donald Trump, a conviction rooted in his 2020 victory and reinforced by a loyal inner circle dubbed “the Politburo.” This group, according to the book, prioritized Biden’s personal narrative of resilience over the reality of his limitations, leading to a campaign marked by “gaslighting and denial.”
The authors contend that this deception extended beyond the public to Democratic lawmakers and donors, who were misled about Biden’s capacity to lead. The book’s subtitle, referencing a “cover-up,” has sparked debate, with critics noting that while Biden’s team tightly controlled his public image, the extent of a coordinated conspiracy remains contested.
The turning point came during the June 27, 2024, presidential debate, moderated by Tapper and CNN’s Dana Bash, where Biden’s incoherent performance shocked viewers and Democratic leaders. His struggles to articulate responses, including a notable gaffe about “beating Medicare,” exposed the gap between the White House’s assurances and reality. Tapper later expressed regret for not covering Biden’s decline more aggressively, admitting he “barely scratched the surface” despite raising concerns as early as 2022.
The debate triggered a wave of calls from Democrats, including high-profile figures like George Clooney, for Biden to withdraw, culminating in his exit on July 21, 2024, and endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Biden’s allies have pushed back against the narrative of cognitive decline, arguing that no evidence shows he was unable to perform critical presidential duties. A Biden spokesperson emphasized that his medical exams revealed only physical issues, such as a stiffened gait due to spinal wear, and insisted he remained effective.
Former chief of staff Ron Klain pointed to Biden’s strong performances at events like the 2024 NATO summit as evidence of his capability. However, critics like Democratic strategist David Axelrod called the allegations “troubling,” noting that Biden’s team adapted his schedule to mask his limitations, raising questions about transparency.
