This is a nightmare scenario for the Right. It would be a disaster if this Leftist won the presidency.
And a major Democrat is preparing for a shocking 2028 presidential bid according to a bombshell report.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the socialist from New York, is apparently plotting her next big move: a potential shot at the presidency in 2028. According to fresh reports, this Squad leader is revving up her political machine to climb even higher.
Insiders close to her camp spilled the beans to Axios, revealing that AOC is weighing options between a Senate bid or going straight for the Oval Office. It’s all about expanding her influence beyond the Big Apple.
She’s been hitting the road hard, teaming up with Bernie Sanders on his nationwide “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. That’s not all—she’s also been hosting town halls upstate in New York, trying to rally support in areas far from her urban base.
Representing slices of Queens and the Bronx, AOC has poured millions into boosting her online footprint this year. According to Axios, she’s building a massive list of potential backers and donors to supercharge her grassroots cash flow.
But hold on—nothing’s set in stone yet. Her crew is just lining up possibilities so she can pick her path when the time comes.
Some of her supporters figure that even if victory seems like a long shot, she’d jump into the presidential fray anyway.
The goal? To plant a flag for the radical left in the Democratic primaries, much like Sanders shook things up against Hillary Clinton back in 2016.
If she opts for the Senate instead, she’d probably take on Chuck Schumer, the current Senate Minority Leader. Of course, Schumer hasn’t said if he’s even running again.
The Brooklyn pol sailed to his fifth term in 2022 without breaking a sweat, facing no real pushback from progressives on his flank.
One Sanders insider fired back at doubters, calling it the “height of arrogance to assume she couldn’t win the 2028 nomination.”
That aide, Ari Rabin-Havt, said to Axios, “She has a supporter base that, in many ways, has a larger potential width than Bernie’s.”
He went on: “She has been in the glare of the spotlight from day one and has the national campaigning experience a lot of other potential candidates are now trying to get.”
AOC exploded into politics by toppling longtime incumbent Joe Crowley in that stunning 2018 primary upset.
Since then, she’s pushed a laundry list of far-left ideas, from government-run healthcare for all to the bloated Green New Deal boondoggle.
She’s positioned herself as a thorn in Donald Trump’s side, blasting Israel’s defensive actions in Gaza and fighting tooth and nail against deporting illegal immigrants.
Not one to play nice with her own party’s bigwigs, she recently slammed Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for snubbing Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic pick for mayor of New York City.
