Conservatives have said for years that they’ve been targeted by the government. But now we finally have shocking evidence.
Because Republicans uncovered a massive censorship plot that has all hell breaking loose.
Social media titans like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have always been accused of censoring ideas the Left hates.
But it wasn’t until last year that the extent of their silencing was exposed party in thanks to Elon Musk taking over Twitter.
It was revealed that it was not only the companies alone muzzling conservatives, it also involved the FBI and campaigns of prominent politicians.
Even more details are coming to light and Republican politicians announced an investigation to get to the bottom of it.
On Thursday, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) initiated an investigation into accusations that public funds controlled by the State Department were given to the Global Disinformation Index (GDI), an organization that seeks to demonetize conservative news outlets.
According to media reports, GDI recently received $330,000 in taxpayer monies overseen by the State Department. Taxpayers’ money goes to GDI because it keeps a media blacklist known as the “Dynamic Exclusion List,” which apparently labels 39 conservative news outlets as “false/misleading.”
The establishment eventually uses the list to discredit conservative news companies, reduce their ad revenue, and deplatform them.
Breitbart News, the Blaze, the Washington Times, Judicial Watch, MRC.TV, RealClearPolitics, and the Daily Wire are among the outlets reported to be on the blacklist.
Comer requested documentation and a briefing on the scope of the State Department’s monies used to backlist conservative news groups in a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“The Committee is disturbed by recent reporting that taxpayer money ended up in the hands of a foreign organization running an advertising blacklist of organizations accused of hosting disinformation on their websites, including several conservative-leaning news organizations,” Comer wrote.
“The federal government should not be censoring free speech nor policing what news outlets Americans choose to consume,” Comer continued.
“And taxpayer funds should never be given to third parties with the intent that they be used to censor lawful speech or abridge the freedom of the press.”
Comer’s request comes as Breitbart News exclusively reported Monday that GOP House Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was instrumental in ensuring that GDI would no longer receive financial support from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), according to a source familiar with NED decision-making. Stefanik serves on the NED board.
The NED’s decision to defund GDI is noteworthy because the State Department also funds it. Documents show that in 2020, NED gave $230,000 to the AN Foundation, a GDI organisation known as the Disinformation Index Foundation.
According to financial documents, NED has received about $300 million from the State Department since 2021.
“The State Department should not be funding woke organizations who seek to censor and demonetize conservative outlets,” Stefanik stated last week.
“House Republicans will assert our oversight over the State Department’s funding of these type of groups.”
