U.S. Senator Joe Manchin is a critical vote in the upper chamber. Where he lands can decide the fate of major legislation.
And Senator Joe Manchin has now announced that he’s departing from the Democrat Party.
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., refused to say on Sunday if he intended to run for re-election to his previous position as governor of West Virginia or whether he still considered himself a Democrat.
During an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” anchor Maria Bartiromo questioned Manchin about his political future and whether he still identifies with the party he has been affiliated with for his whole career in politics.
Manchin continued, “I’m an American through and through,”
Manchin responded to Bartiromo when she pressed him on whether he would run for governor by saying he would “do whatever I can to help my country come together and my state come together.”
Manchin served as the governor of West Virginia from 2005 to 2010, and he has been a senator since that year. Jim Justice, the current governor of West Virginia and a former Democrat who was elected in 2017, notably declared during a rally with then-President Donald Trump that he was going to switch parties shortly after his election.
Justice is still teasing whether or not he intends to run against Manchin, but according to some rumors, he will declare by the end of this month.
Manchin has decided against running for president in 2024, but he hasn’t said if he’ll seek reelection to the Senate.
It seems almost inevitable that Joe Manchin will eventually officially depart from any affiliation with the Democrat Party.
And that makes sense.
The Democrat Party has become so insanely radical and extremely far-Left that Americans in states like West Virginia where Joe Manchin is from, cannot stomach the Democrat Party these days.
They can’t stomach the policies of abortion-on-demand through all nine months of a pregnancy or sending all our taxpayer dollars overseas to Ukraine, which many Americans view is a waste.
Manchin wouldn’t be the first Democrat to leave the Democrat Party, and he certainly wouldn’t be the last.
In October of 2022, Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democrat U.S. Representative for Hawaii, announced that she would be leaving the Democrat Party due to the party becoming far too radical.
She accused the Democrats of being warmongers and elitists that the American people can’t relate too anymore. And she’s exactly right.
There was at least an argument at one point that the Democrat Party was a political party more focused on “good jobs for the little guy.”
Some would (rightly) say that the Democrat Party was never actually for “the little guy,” but there was at least an argument.
That’s not the case anymore. Today, the Democrat Party wants full submission to their culture war and any disagreement is not tolerated in their ranks.
And it doesn’t seem like Joe Manchin can remain within their Party for too much longer, even if he wanted to.
