Senator John Fetterman broke ranks and betrayed his Democrat allies

The Left is bleeding support. Even their own members are rethinking their loyalties.

And now Senator John Fetterman broke ranks and betrayed his Democrat allies.

Pennsylvania Democrat Sen. John Fetterman surprised many on Monday during his appearance on The View when he admitted that the criminal trial against President Donald Trump in New York was “politically motivated.”

While discussing Trump and former President Joe Biden’s controversial pardons, Fetterman openly criticized the legal process surrounding Trump’s case. “I also agree that the trial in this city, in New York, was politically motivated, that wouldn’t otherwise have been prosecuted if it was someone else,” Fetterman said, in a rare moment of candor for a Democrat on national television.

Co-host Sunny Hostin, seemingly startled by Fetterman’s statement, pressed him for clarity. “Just for clarification, did you mean that the 34-count case in which Donald Trump was found guilty of various financial crimes was politically motivated here in New York?”

Fetterman doubled down, saying, “I found that when the judicial system gets weaponized and targets political enemies for political gain, I think that’s inappropriate.” He added, “I think that degrades our collective trust in this very important institution, whether that’s a Democrat going after a Republican, or a Republican going after a Democrat.”

Fetterman emphasized the importance of impartiality in the judicial system, saying, “I like to call it strikes and balls, but the judicial system has to remain impartial. I mean, that’s really the cornerstone of our society.”

Trump, who was found guilty of charges related to falsifying business records, was sentenced to an unconditional discharge in January after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg spent years pursuing the case — one widely seen by conservatives as a politically motivated witch hunt.

Fetterman’s remarks have added to speculation about his shifting political stance. Hostin questioned him about accusations that his recent decisions and positions have moved to the right, pointing out his use of Truth Social and his views on issues like fracking and immigration.

In response, Fetterman dismissed claims of a party switch but left the door open for interpretation.

“I would make a pretty terrible Republican because, you know, pro-choice, pro-really strong immigration, pro-LGBTQ, you know … I don’t think I’d be a good fit. So, I’m not going to change my party and if I am going to do, I’m going to show up. I’ll give you the exclusive I can announce,” he said.

He also addressed his meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago ahead of the president’s second inauguration on January 20. Fetterman described the meeting as “positive” and found Trump to be “kind” and “cordial,” further fueling online speculation about his political leanings.

While he rejected Trump’s pardons of January 6 defendants, Fetterman was quick to highlight his bipartisan approach to representing Pennsylvania, saying, “I am a senator for all Pennsylvanians — not just Democrats.”

Despite endorsing Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election cycle, Fetterman has spoken openly about Trump’s enduring appeal among voters, especially in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. Trump’s victory in Pennsylvania during the election cemented his win overall.

Fetterman even pushed back against the divisive rhetoric some Democrats have used to label Trump supporters.

“I love people that are absolutely going to vote for Trump,” Fetterman said, distancing himself from the party’s harsh language. “They’re not fascists. They’re not those things. I think if you go to the tickle switch, use those kinds of terms, then it’s kind of hard to walk back on those things. That’s kind of a word that really isn’t part of the vernacular for voters.”

He criticized Democrats for alienating voters with elitist attitudes, saying, “Scolding harder or clutching the pearls harder, that’s never going to work for Democrats.”

Fetterman’s remarks represent a stark departure from the usual Democratic narrative, as he acknowledges Trump’s strong voter support and questions the political motivations behind the attacks on him. In doing so, he highlights the growing frustration among Americans who see political weaponization as a threat to democracy and fairness.
