Joe Biden said his term would be one without scandals. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Because the U.S. House has just threatened subpoenas for Joe Biden admin officials who have been implicated in treasonous crimes.
Biden Autopen Scandal: Trump Orders Probe into Democrat Cover-Up
The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, has launched a searing investigation into the Biden administration’s use of an autopen to sign presidential pardons, raising alarming questions about who was truly wielding executive power during Joe Biden’s presidency. On Wednesday, Comer fired off letters to five former senior Biden advisors—Michael Donilon, Anita Dunn, Ron Klain, Bruce Reed, and Steve Ricchetti—demanding they sit for interviews to address what Comer calls a deliberate cover-up of Biden’s mental decline. This move signals a Republican-led push to hold Democrats accountable for what many view as a betrayal of public trust.
“The American people deserve full transparency and the House Oversight Committee is conducting a thorough investigation to provide answers and accountability,” Comer declared in a press release. His words reflect a growing frustration among conservatives that the Biden White House operated with a shocking lack of openness, particularly as reports of the former president’s cognitive struggles mounted. Comer’s probe targets the heart of the issue: whether Biden’s inner circle concealed his condition to maintain control over the executive branch.
Comer’s letters pull no punches, accusing Biden’s advisors of being complicit in what he calls “one of the greatest scandals in our nation’s history.” The committee is zeroing in on the use of an autopen—a mechanical device that replicates a signature—to sign official documents, including pardons and executive orders. This practice, Comer argues, raises serious constitutional questions about whether Biden was personally exercising the powers vested solely in the president. The investigation seeks to uncover who authorized the autopen and whether it was used to mask Biden’s inability to govern effectively.
“These five former senior advisors were eyewitnesses to President Biden’s condition and operations within the Biden White House,” Comer stated. “They must appear before the House Oversight Committee and provide truthful answers about President Biden’s cognitive state and who was calling the shots.” His demand for testimony highlights a Republican effort to expose what they see as a Democratic scheme to prop up a faltering president while pushing through sweeping policy changes without proper oversight.
The Oversight Project’s Kyle Brosnan, speaking on the John Solomon Reports podcast, shed light on the scope of the autopen controversy. “So we’ve been looking at President Biden, or the Biden White House’s use of an auto pen to sign official presidential documents for a few months here, and our investigation is really over the last couple of weeks and months here has focused in on two types of documents: pardons and actual clemency, and then executive orders on the pardons,” he explained. His team’s findings are d*mning: of the 51 warrants issued to pardon or commute sentences for roughly 4,200 individuals, 32 were signed with an autopen.
Brosnan emphasized the gravity of this discovery. “The Biden White House issued 51 warrants to either pardon or commute the prison sentence of about 4200 people, and of that, we found that 32 of those warrants were signed with an auto pen, which meaning the President didn’t hand sign those documents himself,” he said. This reliance on an autopen, particularly for powers reserved exclusively for the president under the Constitution, raises troubling questions about whether Biden was fully engaged in his duties.
“And that’s important, because the power of the pardon rests only with the President of the United States,” Brosnan continued. “And if you know that the President signed it by signing it by hand, you know he is exercising that power. And when you have an auto pen signature, as we do, on over half of the clemency warrants that we analyzed here, it begs and leads to a whole bunch of questions as to what the President is exercising the power solely delegated to him in the Constitution.”

The investigation has gained traction under the new Trump administration, which has wasted no time in addressing the issue. On Wednesday night, President Donald Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to launch a federal probe into Biden’s use of the autopen and the efforts to conceal his health issues. Trump’s directive reflects a commitment to rooting out what he sees as corruption and deception in the previous administration, a stark contrast to the Democrats’ apparent willingness to sweep these concerns under the rug.
“The Counsel to the President, in consultation with the Attorney General and the head of any other relevant executive department or agency, shall investigate, to the extent permitted by law, whether certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President,” Trump ordered. His memorandum points to a pattern of obfuscation by Biden’s team, which Republicans argue undermined the democratic process.
The autopen controversy is particularly galling because it coincided with what Trump’s memorandum described as clear evidence of Biden’s declining mental cognition in the final months of his term. Yet, his signature—replicated electronically—continued to appear on documents enacting major policy shifts and sweeping pardons.
“This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history,” Trump stated. “The American public was purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded the executive power, all while Biden’s signature was deployed across thousands of documents to effect radical policy shifts.” His words resonate with a conservative base that feels betrayed by a Democratic administration they view as having manipulated the levers of power.
Brosnan’s team has uncovered evidence that the autopen was used even when Biden was physically present in Washington, D.C. “And so we’re continuing to dig we put out something yesterday showing that a number of the clemency warrants were auto pen while the President was in Washington, DC,” he noted. This revelation intensifies suspicions that Biden’s advisors were deliberately bypassing him, raising questions about who was truly making decisions in the White House.
Trump’s directive to Bondi is comprehensive, ordering her to investigate not only the autopen’s use but also any efforts by Biden’s aides to hide his mental and physical condition. The probe will examine whether aides colluded to dismiss videos of Biden’s cognitive struggles as “fake” and who authorized the autopen for critical documents. This aggressive approach stands in sharp contrast to the Biden administration’s apparent lack of accountability, which Republicans argue allowed unelected officials to steer the country.
The controversy has sparked a firestorm among conservatives, who see it as emblematic of Democratic failures. For years, Republicans raised concerns about Biden’s mental acuity, only to be dismissed by Democrats as spreading misinformation. Now, with the autopen scandal coming to light, those warnings appear vindicated.
