The question of whether Joe Biden will run again in 2024 has been in the air for months. The Left has been watching with bated breath.
And Biden’s surprise 2024 announcement left Democrats speechless.
Whether Joe Biden is fit for office has made headlines ever since he took over the presidency.
He and his wife, Jill, say even mentioning his age or mental acuity is somehow discriminatory.
But every American, and even many Democrats, know that there are a few screws loose.
Which his why his latest announcement has everyone on their toes.
President Joe Biden is expected to decide whether he would run for reelection in 2024 in the coming weeks, as the far-left is allegedly enraged by the president’s recent policy decisions.
Although Biden stated his “intention” to run for reelection with the assistance of first wife Jill Biden as a surrogate, the president has delayed making the decision since February.
The far-left has condemned the postponement as dithering. To quell the critics, it appears that White House aides revealed to Politico Playbook on Friday that Biden will debut in the coming weeks.
But Biden now faces a fresh challenge.
His announcement of a 2024 campaign coincided with pivots away from some of his far-left positions, such as supporting a Republican resolution to block a Washington, DC, soft-on-crime law, approving drilling on a portion of Alaska’s oil-rich land, and allegedly considering adopting former President Donald Trump’s policy of detaining migrant families who cross into the U.S. illegally.
Far-left Democrats have taken note of Biden’s minor shift, generating a ruckus within the Democratic Party. When socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was asked by Politico about Biden’s minor pivot, he said “the devil is in the details and we will see what happens.”
“But has he made decisions that progressives disagree with? Absolutely. We will see what comes up in the next year,” Sanders added.
Far-left Representatives Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Judy Chu (D-CA) published a joint statement to Politico criticizing Biden’s recent actions.
“We should not return to the failed policies of the past,” they said. “There is no safe or humane way to detain families and children, and such detention does not serve as a deterrent to migration.”
Following Biden’s support for the Republican motion to overturn the District’s soft-on-crime statute, Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) blasted Biden, claiming that Biden opposes law and order.
“If the President supports DC statehood, he should govern like it,” she tweeted. “Plenty of places pass laws the President may disagree with. He should respect the people’s gov of DC just as he does elsewhere.”
Biden’s advisers have been hesitant to highlight the little shift, claiming that “there has not been a coordinated, deliberate strategy to move to the center as a likely reelection campaign approaches.”
Speaking with Politico, they claimed the pivot only represents a “series of moves were the product of inadvertent timing or simply Biden acting on long-held positions, like on crime.”
