Trump is being attacked on seemingly infinite fronts. His political future is in dire straits.
And now a federal judge has given Donald Trump utterly devastating court news.
The federal indictment trial of Donald Trump has been taking up all the news surrounding Trump lately, and for good reason.
It’s by far his biggest legal challenge yet and no one knows how that one is going to turn out.
But one shouldn’t forget about the other legal troubles that Trump is facing, including his first indictment trial that he was hit with earlier this year by Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg.
Everyone knows Democrat Attorney Alvin Bragg is on shaky legal ground in his attempt to convict Trump on phony charges that he paid an adult film star hush money during the 2016 election cycle.
Alvin Bragg has a million crime issues to deal with in Manhattan, and yet he decides to go after a former U.S. President for a currently unsubstantiated crime. Not to mention the reality that this former U.S. President is once again the leading candidate in the 2024 election cycle.
Regardless, Trump still has to take it seriously. Especially after he was hit with the latest court loss in that case.
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein has said that he will likely be declining an attempt from Trump’s legal team to get the case out of New York and into another state or region.
Newsmax reports:
Trump’s lawyers say federal court is the proper venue for the case, arguing his actions were related to his presidency. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office, which brought the charges, says the case has nothing to do with any presidential act and should remain in state court.
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein said he was inclined to side with prosecutors.
“The argument is very clear that the act for which the president has been indicted does not relate to anything under color of his office,” Hellerstein said,
Hellerstein indicated that he tends to agree with the prosecution that the case belongs in New York because it doesn’t have anything to do with Trump’s actions as a sitting President.
Instead, it’s involving actions Trump took as a candidate for office, allegedly that he violated election laws by paying Stormy Daniels hush money.
The Trump legal wants to get the case out of New York because they believe the existing judicial setting will be hostile to their defense of former President Donald Trump.
It seems he may not get that luxury and will have to make do with the existing circumstances.
The Trump lawyers should be focusing on the fact that there is no substantive evidence that ties Donald Trump himself to any hush money payments for Stormy Daniels.
The prosecution may believe that Trump orchestrated a payment to be paid to Stormy Daniels, but it is incumbent on them to be able to prove it.
As of now, they have not done that. It’s merely a conspiracy theory that Trump hired Michael Cohen to do a dirty favor for him.
Without the evidence to prove it, the judge should dismiss the case all together. But only time will tell how this plays out.
