The Obamas don’t know when to butt out. Their stars have waned but that won’t stop them from trying to put their noses where they don’t belong.
And now a top Democrat adviser exposes Barack Obama’s shocking scheme for the 2024 election.
Former President Barack Obama found himself under fire Thursday, as former Bernie Sanders campaign adviser Nina Turner blasted him for singling out Black men who aren’t flocking to support Kamala Harris.
Turner didn’t hold back, asking a question that’s long overdue: “Why are Black men being lectured to?” She took to CNN to make it clear — Obama’s condescending remarks aren’t sitting well.
“Why are Black men being belittled?” Turner continued, calling out Obama for being “wrong” in his approach.
Turner, a former Ohio state senator and national co-chair of Sanders’ 2020 campaign, wasn’t shy about pointing out how tone-deaf Obama’s comments were. “Now, a lot of love for former President Obama,” she said, “but for him to single out Black men is wrong.”
And she’s right. Obama, once revered by so many, seems to forget that Black men, like any group, have their own reasons for how they vote, and those reasons deserve respect — not a lecture from the man who spent eight years in office without delivering the sweeping changes many hoped for.
“Even if some of us may not like that, we have to respect it,” Turner added.
Turner rightly questioned why Obama isn’t out there lecturing every other demographic group, asking, “So unless President Barack Obama is gonna go out and lecture every other group of men from other identity groups, my message for Democrats is don’t bring it here to Black men.”
Politicians should be working to earn votes, not shame them into submission.
Turner hammered home this point by suggesting that instead of singling out Black men, Democrats should focus on courting all voters and appealing to those “few good men” who care about the real issues affecting the country.
“But this is wrong for President Obama,” she concluded. “It is a wrong course for the Harris-Walz campaign to lay at the feet of Black men when they have their reasons.”
Turner’s comments came after Obama tore into Black men for not showing the same enthusiasm for Harris that they did for his own presidential runs. Obama, clearly rattled by the lack of excitement, said at a rally in Pittsburgh, “We have not yet seen the same kinds of energy and turnout in all corners of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running.” Maybe that’s because the Obama magic just isn’t working anymore.
His patronizing didn’t stop there. Obama went on to claim the lack of enthusiasm was “more pronounced with the brothers,” adding that Black men are “coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses.”
Really? For a man who campaigned on hope and change, Obama sure has a hard time accepting that not everyone buys what Harris is selling.
Obama even had the audacity to suggest that Black men might just not be comfortable with the idea of a woman as president, saying, “You just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president.”
But it seems more likely that many voters — Black men included — simply aren’t convinced that Harris is the right person for the job.
With polls showing a narrowing gap between Harris and Trump, Democrats are once again fearing a 2016 repeat, but pointing fingers and shaming voters isn’t going to fix it.
It’s becoming clearer that Obama’s glory days are behind him, and his attempts to rally voters by guilt-tripping them aren’t helping Harris’ flailing campaign.
