Americans need to be ensured that their vote matters. But there’s some funny business going on.
And now a voter fraud investigation rocked Washington, D.C. to its core.
Election officials in Colorado’s Mesa County have opened an investigation after discovering at least 12 stolen mail-in ballots for the 2024 election, several of which were counted as valid votes.
The case was flagged on Tuesday in Mesa County, a Republican stronghold in western Colorado, thanks to the county’s signature verification checks.
One suspicious ballot came to light when a voter noticed it had been counted despite never having received their ballot.
“I am fully committed to ensuring the integrity and security of our elections. We are currently investigating attempted election fraud,” said Bobbie Gross, Republican Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.
According to NBC, three of these ballots were counted and cannot be voided, though the voters impacted can submit a new ballot.
The ballots were flagged by the verification process but were still approved by an election judge, who has since been “reassigned,” as reported by Colorado Public Radio.
Colorado’s Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a Democrat, called the situation “unfortunate” but asserted that the state’s election “system did work.”
She noted that the motive remains under investigation, and details about which candidates were selected on the ballots were not disclosed.
On Thursday, Griswold publicly announced the state investigation, a move Gross indicated might hinder the county’s criminal inquiry.
“Our priority is to handle this investigation with the utmost care and diligence, and I believe that prematurely releasing details could compromise our ability to hold those responsible accountable,” Gross emphasized.
“While we understand the Secretary of State’s desire to make public statements, this is our community and our investigation.”
Gross assured that further information would be shared responsibly.
“It is critical that we follow proper procedures to ensure a thorough and effective investigation without tipping off those involved,” she explained.
“The people of Mesa County deserve transparency and accountability, but it must be done in a manner that protects the integrity of the investigation.”
Gross concluded by asking the public for patience as officials proceed with caution to “ensure a just and fair outcome” for the community.
Over 27,000 votes have already been counted in Mesa County, where former President Donald Trump won by nearly 30 points in 2020.
A prior investigation by The Daily Wire highlighted cases of ballots mistakenly sent to people across the country who had moved or even died.
