A threat on Donald Trump’s life just shut down the White House

Trump has been under attack too many times. This is just another one to add to the list.

And now a threat on Donald Trump’s life just shut down the White House.

Elderly California Man Faces Charges for Threats Against President-Elect Trump

Thomas Eugene Streavel, a 73-year-old from Yucca Valley, California, was arrested on Monday, June 2, and was charged with issuing multiple threats to assassinate President Donald Trump via social media.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) alleges Streavel “knowingly and willfully threatened to k*ll and inflict bodily harm” on Trump.

The threats, posted on Facebook, included explicit statements about wanting to “blow [Trump’s] brains out,” according to a DOJ release.

Series of Violent Social Media Posts Uncovered

The DOJ detailed a string of threatening posts by Streavel, beginning the day after Trump’s election win on November 6, 2024.

In one post, Streavel called Trump “a dead man walking for the time being until a patriot like myself blows his [expletive] brains out in the very near future.”

On November 12, he reiterated his intent, stating he was “willing to make America great again and blow his [expletive] brains out.”

Further posts on November 19 declared, “Let me put a bullet right between the ears of your president-elect,” describing it as his “purpose for living.”

On November 28, Streavel escalated his rhetoric, writing he was “praying for a successful assassination of your president elect” and claiming, “My life’s mission is k*lling the worthless LOSER [expletive] and my mission starts tonight so watch yourself trump, you are a dead [expletive] and I am your assassin.”

Legal Consequences and Official Response

Streavel faces a three-count federal indictment for threats against the president-elect, with each count carrying a potential five-year prison sentence if convicted.

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Tuesday, June 3, and was released on a $10,000 bond, with a trial set for July 28.

United States Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli condemned the threats, noting, “The type of rhetoric and threats made by this defendant are similar to those that led to an attempt on the President’s life last year.”

He emphasized, “There is no place for political violence or threats of violence in the United States.”
