The Clintons are never going to go away willingly. It’s going to take the media and Americans being honest for that to happen.
And now CNN completely humiliated Hillary Clinton with a sudden about-face.
CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig didn’t hold back when he took former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to task for her out-of-touch defense of the legal system’s treatment of former President Trump.
Clinton, who has long been a fixture of political controversies herself, claimed there was “nothing out of the ordinary” in the ongoing legal battles Trump is facing.
But Honig was quick to point out just how wrong she was.
In a column for New York Magazine, Honig torched Special Counsel Jack Smith’s “procedurally irregular” tactics in his 165-page federal court filing, specifically regarding Trump’s immunity from prosecution.
He made it clear that Smith isn’t even pretending to play by the rules, writing, “The larger, if less obvious, headline is that Smith has essentially abandoned any pretense; he’ll bend any rule, switch up on any practice — so long as he gets to chip away at Trump’s electoral prospects.”
It’s as if Clinton, desperate to remain relevant, is either turning a blind eye or completely ignoring these blatant inconsistencies.
Honig didn’t hesitate to draw a parallel between Smith’s conduct now and former FBI Director James Comey’s infamous announcements about Clinton’s email investigation right before the 2016 election.
He rhetorically asked what difference there could possibly be between these two cases.
But, of course, Clinton rejected the comparison, as if she’s somehow above scrutiny.
In an interview, Clinton claimed, “I think the situation is completely different, and this is in the context of an ongoing criminal procedure that the special counsel has brought against Donald Trump many, many months before the run-up to the election.”
Once again, Clinton spins her narrative, brushing off any legitimate concerns as if the rules don’t apply when it’s convenient for her.
Honig, however, wasn’t buying Clinton’s attempt to downplay the situation. He argued, “Well, all respect to Secretary Clinton, she’s the one who suffered the consequences for James Comey’s, I believe, outrageous conduct in 2016.”
Honig highlighted how Clinton’s analysis of the Trump case was simply wrong, especially when it comes to her confusion over the judges involved.
“First of all, she’s confusing the judges here,” Honig said, pointing out that Clinton appeared to mix up Judge Aileen Cannon and Judge Tanya Chutkan.
What’s particularly revealing is how Clinton seems perfectly comfortable defending this “procedurally irregular” approach.
Honig called her out directly, stating, “More to the point, the last thing we just heard Secretary Clinton say was — quote — ‘There is nothing out of the ordinary.’ But as I described before, the way they flipped this procedure is the opposite of the ordinary.”
As always, Clinton seems to have no problem bending the truth when it suits her, just as she did during her own scandals.
Honig’s critique serves as a reminder that, despite her attempts to brush off the concerns, there’s plenty about this case that’s far from “ordinary.”
But Clinton, ever the political survivor, continues to dodge accountability while backing an investigation with obvious flaws.
